DICE have released another patch for Battlefield 4 overnight, which you should now find automatically applied through Origin.

Battlefield 4 has been patched a lot recently, receiving extra focus ever since they pledged to stop all other development until the game’s issues were resolved.

Take a look at the patch notes below:

  • Various fixes for improving general stability
  • Fixed a memory leak issue occurring after level shutdowns, which could result in a out-of-memory crash in longer play sessions
  • Additional fix for the “sound loop” deadlock when running High/Ultra graphics settings
  • Added a warning for using Legacy AMD drivers that were out of date
  • Fixed a player feedback timing issue where blood was appearing before other damage indicators, and before damage was actually done
  • Fixed a bug where players’ rank icons on the scoreboard would not be updated
  • Fix for Asian users unable to start Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 on Windows 8.1
  • Normalized repair rates across all vehicles.
  • Fixed problem with killer health in kill card not being correctly updated (showing 100% health even though the soldier was hurt)
  • Fix for friendly marker not always showing when needed to, resulting in players shooting team members
  • Fixed a bug where a Main Battle Tank Coaxial HMG ammo box was occasionally blocking the driver’s camera
  • Increased damage by 25% for the Stealth Jet 20mm cannons.
  • Stealth Jets now have more similar handling attributes to each other. F35 & J-20 are slightly more agile, Su-50 is less agile.
  • Attack Jets now have more similar handling attributes to each other, and all 3 are now slightly less agile than earlier
  • Fixed camera glitch when switching weapons while moving in crouch
  • Fixed an occasional bug where players could experience intermittent engine sound dropouts when driving wheeled IFVs
  • Fix for player spawning under the map when deploying on Lancang Dam
  • Fixed flickering in map and minimap on Rogue Transmission and Operation Locker

OOOH Lots of good changes. Biggest one being the ally indicator. Thank god they’ve fixed that!!

Not so sure about the repair rate being leveled out to tank repair speeds. Not the right solution to combat little bird strength.

The right solution would be to make vehicles only repairable by X-amount per minute, it wont happen though… so we still have to put up with invincible littlebirds packed with engineers with stingers.

Yeah the tags for friendlies do pop up a little quicker but it’s still flawed. It’s a BIG problem in Hardcore.

shit game is (still) shit. waste of my money. btw, does anyone even still play this on pc? just lists of empty servers.

I’m still getting the wrong password or email error .
(changed my password twice) why patch a game you can’t even play?

troll is (still) troll

OT now I can be even more crap at flying

what makes me a troll? Im not a troll. huge fan of the battlefield series, bought every one on release day starting at 1942, even played 1943 and bad company 1 on xbox 360, and even battlefield: modern combat, which i bet uve never played. and TBH,4 is total dog balls. AFAIK, next to no-one even plays it on pc, when i look at the servers, theres 5 ppl here and there and thats it. I do play it on xbox one though, where theres always full servers and a lot of people playing. But the pc version a wasteland.

EDIT: just looking at bf4 servers now, theres SOME that are verging on full. maybe a dozen. Overall though i just dont find it a fun game. So much random-ness that u cant control. Doesnt have anything to do with skill. Give me csgo or tf2 any day. hell im even enjoying batman AOrigins MP. and titan fall looks promising

Dont know what servers your looking at Sir griggles i find a good 50+ servers every night in oz, mostly full…..

Now as for patching, great they did it, but I wouldnt say its “Battlefield 4 has been patched a lot recently”.. given the renewed focus… its been almost 1 month between the 2 patches….

Funnily enough Arma III manages to release a patch and build notes every day.. Dice could learn a lot from what the BI team are doing to support their community. That said, there isnt really as much incentive as they have huge wads of cash already.

Game is still excellent, but should have been in the state it is now (After this patch) for the release.

Just checked it out, tumbleweeds.

Yeah actually running into a lot of rego issues with this patch, plus health of killer is actually more broken than it was pre-patch. Not only that there are tons of issues with 0 health players not dying. So all in all not a fan of the patch so far.

Though the stability and mem-leak fixes are welcome. They really need to get their balance and rego fixed so it doesn’t suffer so much from random crap.

The server browser can only display a limited number of servers and scrolling down doesn’t always help; refreshing the search with the same parameters will often show a bunch of (populated) servers that weren’t there before.

yeh, apologies are due. and im a big enough man to admit im wrong, there DOES seem to be quite a few populated servers tonight, which is a great thing. In the past its been deserted, and for some reason, maybe chrome, even when i sort by population, it never arranges it from largest pop. to smallest. theres a bunch of servers out of order… any ideas how to fix that? is firefox or ie a better browser? heres a pic of my problem, after arranging it by biggest population to smallest, theres a few stragglers that just wont arrange correctly. does this happen to everyone? heres a pic
thats after scrolling down 30 lines or so

Shame it takes the game so bloody long to load on my pc, the first flags usually capped by the time i get in there. any advice? turn down settings? install it onto the ssd? im running an i7 4770 with 16 gigs ddr 3 and a gtx 670. how can i speed up loading times?

Installing it on an SSD would help. Its the HDD speed that matters not really your CPU its battle score by your hard drive speed. And SSDs are faster. Though my western digital caviar black does well usually loading before even one flag is capped.

Or there could just be a countdown timer.

Little birds with engineers are that bad. Laser designate that bitch and team hat to the rest of the server you have. At least 1 of the other 31 idiots on your team may act upon what you have said. Or just play with friends. Have lots of stingers and igla’s and shoot the crap out of it with an LMG which scares all aboard having missiles coming in and being hit by bullets. Even if you don’t kill it you can often make people jump out and the pilot buggers off somewhere else.

And Lol before this patch all 3 attack jets had more agility and mobility than the F-35. Still an attack jet with its 30mm cannons can kill a stealth jet in less than 1 seconds literally. The DPS is so high air to air. If they just reduced the attack jets 30mm cannon air to air damage it would be fine. I know that’s nerfing something but its kinda silly how it is gameplay wise. There’s different damage modifiers for different targets. So all they gotta do is change the air to air damage modifier.

Also I don’t like the health on IFVs and the attack boats. Far to similar to a MBT. And the attack boats can have an engineer sitting there. They are worse than attack choppers. If you get a mobility hit on an attack chopper it can go very wrong for them even with two engineers. A mobility hit of a boat is nothing. The damage is high and that’s fine. But it should have lower health. Its a boat for crying out load it shouldn’t survive that many rockets and other explosions. And IFVs are also too tough. Again it should be a shock vehicle not a faster MBT with an auto cannon and a TOW missile.

Despite how terrible BF3/4 are they’re still considerably more enjoyable than any of the abortions BI have tried to sell as games. They can fuck right off with their daily patches and support and make something worthwhile.

The only way to speed up loading is to use an SSD. I’m usually first into a server because of it. I also believe there is a slight extra performance boost from running Win 8.1 for BF4 too though I can’t be bothered to install 7 again to test fully.

The game is a lot of fun. They have patched out nearly all of the random WTF death moments.

You can find a full server anytime of the day and not just operation metro farming servers, There is some great high ticket servers out there so you can really settle into a long game.

As for the patches not coming fast enough, well it was Christmas so take 2 weeks away for that. Hopefully patches will be coming in faster now.

I haven’t played this for weeks, got to rank 10 and just stopped.. I had so many issues at beta then launch and it really killed the mood. I just patched my game up last night though, hopefully I can get back into it.

Some might say that support and daily patches are worthwhile.

BF4 is definitely the best game ever made it just needs some tickling to make it smile.
