PC Gaming Report Cards

By on December 3, 2013 at 6:14 pm

At the end of the year, we look back at the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens of all the major publishers. Are they taking PC gaming seriously, or are they letting it slide to focus on other markets? Our report cards reveal all.

How do you feel about the state of PC gaming in 2013?

Notes form Square Enix say Tomb Raiders came out in 2012

D for report card writing.

A for awesome article.

C+ for my comment.

Hahaha I knew with a document this big an error would slip through, I proofread it four times and still it happened, look at that. Thanks, fixed now.

Haha, I like this way of doing this, EA’s report is probably the best match to any I got over the years in terms of grades lol

I like this article, good work :)

That, and you misspelt “Activision” :P

Otherwise a top article ;-)

steam isn’t DRM the same way alcohol isn’t a drug: if you beat it into peoples heads enough, they will believe it

Why do you beg for Titanfall to come out early, when we both know we’d be balling your eyes out that it was unfinished, buggy and rushed?

This just looked like a Pisstake of EA, 2K and Activision.

Price gouging should’ve also been a section on the report cards. Pretty sure that all the publishers mentioned would get at most a C.

Relating to Activision’s price gouging, I’ve found them to be a bit inconsistent. TWD Survival Instinct and Deadpool are actually cheaper for Aussies on Steam and the other non-COD titles seem to be fairly priced too.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

(Thanks)

Love the idea, but I think you need to apply the bell curve to your grades.

And have those over achievers ruin it for everyone??

Been a long time since we had over achievers in the gaming industry.

Mod support, uuuuuggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh………

Square Enix are the winners here, I think.
Good stories, great acting and characters, games looked great amidst a sea of terribly textured ports.
Besides, who wants mod support for Tomb raider? And sleeping dogs isn’t exactly GTA. Granted I have a limited imagination with these things, but yeah.
Hope they keep up the good work.

Yeh nice article but,…”Battlefield 4 makes an effort with PC ports GREAT”

Um, that’s a negative, no.

Define “effort”

You buy a hamburger, the meats off, bread is stale, lettuce is brown, but at least they made an effort.

Game is still totally broken for some people ie. they cant play it.

22 bazzilion threads on BF forums confirm this.

Plagued with issues and funfactor is minimal. Graphics are fantastic though,on a positive note, but only after I had to buy Windows 8 to stop amazingly annoying fps drops which could not be fixed any other way.

Good port, no, rushed moneygrab, yep.

I’ll stop now.

posted while DL China rising, yes I’m addicted”

Sure, maybe, but that was still funny. :)

I think it’s high time we gave the Big Publishers a good kicking for abandoning Mod Support. Every single one (except Deep Silver) got less than a C, EA’s support for mods with Sim City doesn’t count really as it’s moderated to hell (or is that by hell).

Mods are almost a requirement for some games, plus it allows much more diversity in the game itself. It’s very sad to see such a lack of mod support these days :(

narcarsiss,

Agreed. Giving Deep Silver a free pass for delaying SR4, stonewalling Australian customers with any information then having the audacity to charge us MORE for the privilege with barely a mention of any the above is pretty dubious.

Ubisoft also seem to get off rather lightly despite giving PC gamers the run-around on several issues.
