Minecraft has sold 13 million copies

Minecraft has sailed past 13 million copies, creator and Mojang boss Markus “Notch” Persson has confirmed, giving an official statement consisting of the single word “whoa”.

Just a reminder that we’re only talking about the original Minecraft here – Minecraft “Prime”, as it were – which is available on PC and Mac.

If we want to talk about the console, Raspberry Pi and mobile versions, then, well – things get even more real. The Xbox 360 version has done 10 million, Microsoft confirmed this week, and at last count in May, so had the Pocket Edition.

It’s coming to Xbox One, Vita, PS3 and PS4, too, at which point we expect the number of copies of Minecraft sold to overtake actual devices, create a black hole, and suck as all into a nightmare alternate universe of creepers and tree punching.

“suck as all” should be “suck us all”.

srs?

what possible benefits would there be using a controller over a keyboard and mouse for minecraft?

I wonder what Notchs bank account looks like?

ball0fire,

Are you seriously going to come out and be one of those PC elitist fucks? Because you see that as inferior doesn’t make it everyones opinion.

Some_Bored_Dude

mearehear,

agree. I play both PC and Console, but at the end of a long day I’d rather sit in my lounge, pick up a controller and relax with my wife telling me where to go in minecraft, skyrim, or which weapon loadouts to use in battlefield.

pearl,

I’d imagine Mojangs account has more money then his ;)

mearehear,

He actually asked a question, “what possible benefits would there be using a controller over a keyboard and mouse for minecraft?”

I’m guessing he’d like an answer, Maybe if your PC Elitist radar wasn’t set to over sensitive you might think about listing what benefits it has. Like Some_Bored_Dude, that actually sounds like a nice evening! All I need now is a wife…

Anyway, personally I prefer the mouse and keyboard but I don’t have a lounge room so I’d imagine it’s be nice to sit back and relax on a comfy couch and game the night away.
