In our endless quest at games.on.net to bring you more examples of actual PC gameplay, we’re recording more and more game footage — starting with our look at Reaper of Souls last week and moving on to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

Recorded here on a GTX 670 with everything pushed (almost) all the way up, Black Flag is a beautiful game. Stay tuned for more videos showing ship battles and more gorgeous open ocean action.

I for one look forward to the future adventures of Stabberella.

Looks pretty though, but the people look a bit wooden, but I dunno if I’d notice that while playing.

you dont even notice that . too much fun sailing around and being a pirate ship to ship battles and ship to fort battles and ship vs storms are where its at :)

once you get past the boring start / tutorial and first couple story missions you just go on yah merry way and do what ever

also it has an android . ios companion program for tablets which is cool fun works as a second screen so or seperate to control yah fleet for extra money making missions :)

Actually, a large part seems to be that initial cutscene, for some reason? I remember starting it up and being surprised that was the main character because he was so UGLY and, well, yeah wooden. But they do seem to get a lot better, somehow?

Jess Colwill,

That’s odd! But good to know, now to finish revelations and then III to get to IV lol

Having great fun as a pirate.

I’m still wandering around in Havana, but I find the poor frame rate in this game a little annoying. The game is not really calling out to me to go back and play atm.
I know many people are getting similar issues, although that vid looked pretty smooth?
Playing on a good system with a amd 7990.

(Skip III, III is like a worse IV)

42alpha,

have you turned off VSYNC… after doing that im suddenly getting close to 50FPS instead of the terrible 20FPS I was getting

lexxbomb,

yeh, i find it seems to run a little better with vsync OFF, but still looks a tad framey, only drops to 40fps from 60 when running or looking to towards middle of map,… the screen tearing is not too bad.
Truly, it just shits me a little that it’s unoptimized.
Far cry 3 was the same, not terribad, just a little dissapointing, u want it to be smooth, after you have spent good bucks on your rig.
meh i’ll get over it, all good still. <:

42alpha,

That is rather strange. I’m playing on max with my 7870 with no issues…

matthewdev,

So you’re getting a constant 60fps? Have u checked your frame rate?

black flag made me buy new pc parts :P
totally worth it.
Looks so shiny :)
And didnt even cost much!

This game is in my opinion the best Assassin’s creed game of all time, bought it yesterday, been playing it for 9-10 hours today, after you get over the initial 23gb download heh… So much fun to just roam the gorgeous oceans with the fancy waves and attack random ships and listen to epic sea shanties

Sounds like a classic case of negative scaling or single GPU being utilised on a dual GPU card.

Personally I’m around 40-60FPS with a single 6950 so seeing as I have only ~20% the power of your 7990 you should be acing it with 120FPS plus stable.

Here’s a link to the latest beta driver:

As for the game, loving it. Tried it before I bought, enjoyed it so much got it a couple of days later :)

IMHO the game would be better without the actual Assassin’s Creed stuff – i.e. if it was just Awesome Pirate Game 2013.

I also wish you could zoom out more in ship battles so that they were more like Sid Meier’s Pirates!, where 3/4 of the screen isn’t filled with your own ship.

The “tutorial” part of the game is stupidly long and very annoying. Why are game makers so scared to just let players figure stuff out? That used to be half the fun of gaming.

Otherwise a very good game.
