World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion revealed, instantly level any character to 90

Blizzard have pulled the wraps off the not-very-secret World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor at Blizzcon overnight.

This fifth expansion will see players “engage in a mythic conflict involving mystical draenei champions and mighty orc clans, and cross axes with the likes of Grommash Hellscream, Blackhand, and Ner’zhul at the height of their primal power”. In case that didn’t make it clear enough, this expansion involves you travelling back in time.

As part of the expansion, you will be able to instantly level any one character to 90, including a newly-created character. Blizzard have also announced a major overhaul of the player character models and animations for many of the older races like orcs and humans, and a new level cap of 100. Another new addition is Garrisons, personalised bases you can build, staff, and manage.

actually looks pretty promising

Yeah…. I don’t know how I feel about this. It sort of looks alright but then again I kept having flashbacks of burning crusade.

Boost straight to 90 is a really bad idea, there are already too many people who can’t play their class properly with current schemes but I guess given how casual wow has gone the past couple of expansions they need to make it easier.

They really need to stop flogging a dead horse and release their “project titan” if it truly exists. /rollseyes

Titan was pushed back till at least 2016 and they also downsized from what has been released. WoW should just hurry up with the F2P imo. Little disappointed with this though as there is no mention of the Burning legion and its just another orc centered exp. Really wanted a burning Legion centered exp or even something to do with the void. I could be wrong and the legion pop up or even that the next exp after this is legion but im just going to watch i think.

The boost to 90 thing is once per account only, and apparently they’ve structured things so you still have to learn your class (they give you your abilities gradually, for one).

People don’t learn how to play their class in low levels. Disc priests do way more damage than shadow priests but it doesn’t mean they are the main DPS spec.

Elemental shamans are heavily based around their ascendance ability at the moment but they don’t learn that till 87.

Frost DK’s hardest hitting move pre lvl 80 is blood boil (for both single target and AoE, Dealing more damage than obliterate) which is not even used at level 90 for a frost DK, EVER.

They will learn their class from 90-100 playing through content that actually requires them to play. If they are just slow/bad it was not because they got an instant 90.

I think going F2P at the moment would still be a very bad business choice on blizzards part. It would be very hard finding 7.6mil million people willing to pay for the game if it went F2P.

And i’m expecting subs to spike a bit when this next expansion is released too.

It’s been a while since I’ve played WoW—will I know what to do with a level-90 character?

At the start of the new expansion, players will be thrust into an exciting introductory experience involving a desperate strike against the orc forces on Draenor. During this opening sequence, new and returning players will have an opportunity to get up to speed on the game before diving into their faction’s starting zone content—similar to the Death Knight starting experience in Wrath of the Lich King. We’ve also recently added features such as Proving Grounds, which help players learn how to tank, heal, and deal damage in dungeons in a solo “teaching” environment, to help ease the learning curve and prepare players for battle as quickly, efficiently, and enjoyably as possible.

somexspec: Boost straight to 90 is a really bad idea

You dont learn anyrhing about end game from leveling anyways it’s all theory crafting.

i always got too bored to level up fully, but the last time i played was the first expansion and apparently its easier to level up now?

Either way the graphics are way too lol for me to bother again.

Yeah I know right, graphics are by far the most important thing in an MMO.

You say that but the fact is that if graphics weren’t important then people would be playing wurm online or something instead such simplistic game like wow.

Graphics aren’t the most important thing, but WoW is really starting to show it’s age now.

A few years back it didn’t bother me, but now with MMOs like GW2 and The Secret World having amazing visuals…WoW looks like a Playstation 1 game.

Hopefully the new character models add a bit of spice to them.

Well it’s kinda true, people are playing League of Legends and those graphics are shite to say the least.

LOL’s graphics aren’t “shite”. They have a specific cell shaded art style.

Don’t bother he’s one of the many that doesn’t understand the difference between graphics and aesthetics.

Heh some people are so easily baited :P

intentional trolling … isn’t that against the forum rules ? Some one find a ban hammer ! :P

Yet somehow while GW2 had a more advanced graphics engines I never felt drawn into the world the way I did when playing WoW. As they say, the quality of the paints and canvas matters, but not as much as the skill of the artist.

Exploring the Howling Fjord for the first time picking herbs was a magical experience. Or heck, even back in the day, enjoying the day / night cycle in the starting Tauren zone, or wandering through Darkshore. I think it’s the music, actually…

A little disappointed it’s only 1 character per account, would love to have even 2 or 3 up to 90… levelling is just so fucking boring from 1-85 odd.

1-90… last time I leveled a new toon it was as exciting as watching paint dry :P
