SEGA have revealed in their earnings report that Total War: Rome 2 has sold over 800,000 copies since it launched on September 3. This makes it the biggest-selling game in the franchise to date, blitzing past Shogun 2 even before launch.

As part of the report, SEGA also revealed a profit of 1.1 billion yen ($11,837,040 AUD) for its consumer sector, which includes its games business.

the worst game in the series is the best selling?? what has happened to the world?

markamus,

Rome II has probably had the best marketing out of the series…

I would hardly say this is the worst game of the series. Its launch may not have been great but it was still better than Empire was. Gameplay wise it is fun my only gripe is the slight noob UI tendency.

Empire was utterly amazing, hands down their best game to date. Every other title they’ve released has been yet another itteration of something they’ve already done. If all their games contained even half the ambition that Empire did we sure as hell wouldn’t have ended up with the Rome II that we have now.

I’d agree with that, aside from all the issues this game really isn’t getting me in.

If by “worst” you mean “buggiest”, then yes. This is a trend CA have been setting since Rome I and yet the fanbois continue to line up to be paying beta testers, thus reinforcing bad behavior. Pro Tip: if you want a polished game at release, STOP PREORDERING!
