Much like the animated tales from Dunwall in the lead-up to the launch of Dishonored, so Thief has begun its own series of animated tales focused around the City and the people in it.

The first one, “Basso’s Gamble”, tells the story of… well, of Basso, who offers Garrett a contract. Take a look below:

We recently went hands-on with Thief, and weren’t entirely convinced. Check out our thoughts here.

Not only are they following dishonored the pre-launch animated stories.
But a city dying of what looks like a plague.
They don’t seem like they are trying to be original in the scenario either.
Still hope it ends being fun. Love stealth games.

To be fair, the Thief games have always had some form of pestilence etc, it’s a pretty bleak world that they take place in. My body is ready for a chorus of “they ripped off Dishonored” from everyone too young to have ever played Thief.

It’s a tricky path they follow. Part of me thinks this will be an ok game. The rest of me figures no matter how awesome this game will be, the fans of the original series will still be sitting around, picking it apart and complaining how it’s completely wrong and doesn’t live up to the original series, all the while still madly playing through the campaign and actually having a good time anyhow.

@nekosan.
I don’t remember the plagues in the originals.
It had been too long since i have played them.

@ vcat
Too true. It will always be picked apart. But here’s hoping it will be fun in its own right.

Dishoured was a joke. Simplified Thief rip off which really didn’t work.
Thief has story, immersion, realistic advanced stealth.

Lets see how it goes Deus Human Revolutions wasn’t too bad, lets see how this goes. I’m not expecting something that will meet the expectations of Thief 1 and 2.
Deadly Shadows was ok.

Deadly Shadows was much better then Dishonored.
