Team Fortress 2′s Mann vs Machine mode to be overhauled in Two Cities update

Valve have revealed the first part of their Two Cities update for Team Fortress 2, unveiling details on the all-new Mannhattan map for Mann vs. Machine.

In this map, players are tasked with defending the factories of “Saxton Hale’s boutique Mhankö line” from an invading army of robots. In this map, robots are able to advance their own spawn points, and introduce new bombs into the map rather than just relying on the existing bomb like before.

Completing Tours of Duty on Mannhattan and the second, unannounced map will work slightly differently, unlocking Killstreak Kits which apply weapon effects to your weapon and character. You’ll also unlock Fabricator Kits which can be used to make even rarer Killstreak Kits. Actually you know what, this isn’t important: what’s important is that it’s time to kill some robots.

The update will also bring the community-made control point map Snakewater into the official TF2 collection, which is great news for creator Toivo Sawen. Excellent!

Interesting, this MvM is the only reason I still have the game installed and tolerable addition/gameplay mode for me after they turned the game proper into a spammy trade centre for ‘lol hatz’ while introducing a nickel and diming pay to win cash shop (which everyone is seemingly ok with, because Valve isn’t EA I guess…?)

Might have to check it out.

They are OK with it because it isn’t pay to win, in fact most players still use the stock loadout anyway. A player who thinks that a TF2 weapon will make them “win the game” doesn’t know how to play TF2 effectively. Also very rarely will games turn into spammpy trade centres unless you play on 2fort (and if this is happening said player should move to a moderated server like GON or Smurfys).
