Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street leaving Blizzard to work on something “new and exciting”

Greg Street

Greg Street has been lead systems designer at World of Warcraft for the last six years, and has been responsible for a lot of the changes to the game in that time. However last night he took to Facebook to announce that he was leaving Blizzard altogether, to work on something else entirely.

“I have been at Blizzard Entertainment for almost six years,” he wrote. “It has been epic and I have made many friends around the world and I have learned so much. But I have a great opportunity for something new and exciting, and it is time to move on.”

The news has been greeted by both sadness, from the people who credit Street with all the things they like about WoW, and happiness, by people who blame him for all the things they don’t like (in other words, the internet).

Having interviewed Street several times as part of my duties at this fine publication, and enjoying every single one of those interviews, I wish him the best at his new job and hope we can learn more about it soon.

“(in other words, the internet).”

That made laugh.

Personally, I’d never tell anyone I was the lead Designer for a game as big ad WoW or CoD or . Too many love to hate and hate to love.

Be interesting to see where he goes, find out just how exciting it is to pull him off WoW (And not into Titan for example)

There was mention of the “new and exciting” thing being announced later in the day, thus him announcing his departure first. Still no word on what it might be though? :(

Be interesting to see where he goes next. He’s staying in gaming, he’s said.

I have nothing against Ghostcrawler … but I wish he’d take Metzen with him… Not for anything gaming related, Chris Metzen is just one of the biggest arseholes I’ve had the dis pleasure of meeting.

However I’m sure GC will kill it whatever his next role is !

This is the man who said we should reroll if we weren’t happy with the 20+% damage discrepancy between the best and the worst DPS classes.

Good riddance. This means he won’t be anywhere near Titan.

Speculation out on the web is that he’s moving to trion to work on Rift.

zzzzzzzzz responsible for blizzard zzzzzzzzzzzz
