Command & Conquer’s continued development hinted at by EA

Command & Conquer

EA’s support website is almost as reliable as the Steam Database when it comes to revealing games industry secrets — after all it was EA support which confirmed the existence of Mirror’s Edge 2.

Now it looks like the site is offering some additional information on the cancelled Command & Conquer, repeating what we already know but adding the line that “your early access to the beta will be honored once production of this title resumes under a new studio.”

Does this mean EA are shopping around for another studio to take care of the beloved strategy franchise? Or that they’re simply taking this in-development game away in order to give it to somebody else? If this line of text disappears from the help page, then we’ll know for certain that they are. Until then, fingers crossed.

Some hope…

I’d be more hoping they just drop the F2P thing and develop C&C Generals 2 instead. I’m guessing that’s not on the cards though.

I miss Westwood. /sniff

How about Petroglyph Games? I hear they know a thing or two about RTSs.

Rumour has it DICE LA is going to be picked to work on it.

Lol i’d like to see that EA would be basically giving everything it has to DICE.

It wouldn’t surprise me for them to finish the game, afer all if you have all the graphics/models/sounds functioning well and all you need is a good game design/balance, then you could easily get another studio to redesign and finish the part of the game that’s left.

Making great strategy games is a very tough art these days, most studios are giving fantastic graphics and sound but the gameplay is generally not as tight as it could be.

i was in the beta and i didn’t mind the game at all
Multiplayer was geared towards DotA but the graphics and gameplay was how i remembered in the original C&C Generals
