While there have been hints in the past that Blizzard was considering such a move, a free-to-play version of World of Warcraft is not currently in the works, say the big blue giant.
Speaking at Blizzcon over the weekend, production director J Allen Brack said to Eurogamer that “We didn’t make the game to be free-to-play.”
“We would have to rework the game pretty significantly in order to make it free-to-play. It’s not something we’re currently considering.”
Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime also announced this week that World of Warcraft had dropped another 100,000 subscribers over the last three months, and was now down to 7.6 million.
