They had me the second they mentioned STALKER and Twelve Monkeys.

Survival games are super popular these days and one of the best things to come of this new popularity is the smaller subset of survival games focused on solitude and the exploring an unsettling and potentially life-threatening world. Raindrop, a new game being developed by indie developers Raindrop Studios, fits very nicely into that category, drawing inspiration from games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Myst and movies like Twelve Monkeys and District 9.
As noted by Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Raindrop began life as a mod for Half-Life 2 before moving to a stand alone game built using the Unity engine. The two man team have been working on the game for a long time and instead of continuing to develop it in their spare time, they have decided to ask people to help them bring it to life.
If their Kickstarter project is successful, they plan on hiring additional programmers, as well as taking care of licensing and living expenses. So far they have raised $17,269 of their $144,000 goal, which isn’t too bad this far in to the campaign. A copy of Raindrop and your name in the credits will set you back only $15, while those looking for beta access will be looking at $25. You can pledge over on Kickstarter – and check out the video while you’re at it, it looks way better in motion.
