Both Batman: Arkham Origins and Battlefield 4 are promising to look crazy-good on our PCs, and with both of them fast approaching you may need to look at updating your drivers.

NVIDIA have released the GeForce R331 Game Ready Drivers, which they say increases performance “by up to 13% for GeForce 400/500/600/700 series GPUs in several PC games vs. GeForce 327.23 WHQL-certified drivers”.

Luckily, we’ve uploaded these drivers to our file library: you can grab them here (64-bit version).

Lol, I had to update my 780 with beta drivers just for BF4 to be playable. Which is ridiculous on a 780 for a build which is more than a month old, like DICE said. I’m done with Battlefield, they just continue to disappoint with poor quality, frustrating game play.

Very much looking forward to Batman though.

Genuine question, do you guys get press releases from nvidia but not AMD or something? There seem to be a million nvidia stories lately and very few about AMD.

We receive press releases from both companies. When it comes to new drivers, the requests for the latest Nvidia drivers outweigh those for AMD.

I’ll be back in a minute, making a quick poll on the forum to see what our members are using.

There drivers also add HBAO+ to Civilization 5.

caitsith01,
Nvidia just had a two-day event in Montreal. All these news stories came from that.

Thats cos AMD graphics are a joke, prepares popcorn.

caitsith01,

With Nvidia having just held a media event in Montreal, you’d expect a number of Nvidia stories to pop up. The driver announcement is due to Nvidia having a driver ready for Arkham Origins and BF4 (AMD doesn’t AFAIK).

jerichosainte,

This is actually normal practice for big releases. Beta drivers are pretty much WHQL drivers without the MS certification. In addition to being ready for certain upcoming games, they also tend to provide performance improvements and bug fixes for older titles.

EDIT: AMD tend not to announce new drivers in the same way that Nvidia do. Indeed, their poor communication on new drivers is rather annoying.

nVidia are spamming because they want people to buy a new GTX for BF4 not wait a month for the new 290 series from AMD :)

ript,

They currently have their huge 7 man team (myself included) who’ve cast their votes.

I had no such issues with my GTX780 and non beta drivers.

AMD and NVIDIA driver releases should be mentioned regardless of which brand is more dominant. AMD however do not necessarily advertise their releases unless you open their Catalyst control centre which checks for updates.

Driver still seems to have issues with 5xx and below, stick with 314 if you own one.

Thanks Captplatypus, I was just gearing up to ask that very question. Sigh. Being stuck on 314 for months sucks. Its getting ridiculous now. There have been, what, 5 major version releases plus this new driver set since 314 release and its still not fixed. Does nvidia even care?

captplatypus,

Or upgrade to a 6xx or 7xx series card. I was forced to because my 560ti decided to give up the ghost on me.

This. AMD’s gaming portal (http://game.amd.com) would be the perfect place to put a news post about a new driver but they don’t seem to do that from what I can see.

PalZer0,
Cant do that with a gaming laptop. You spend the cash you expect driver support for at least 2 years.

just got the update.. bf4 beta seems a bit better

I thought the BF4 beta had been disabled? how do you know this update makes a difference?

What issues are these? Not something I’ve heard about.

Also; Nvidia “drivers” are starting to get a fair bit of bloatware packaged with them these days. I find I’m unticking more boxes then I install.

InAUGral,

Running OC’d 4770k, asus hero and evga gtx780 sc and BF4 was instantly playable after updating from the current driver to the beta driver. Definitely not a hardware issue. It was unplayable on any vid settings for the current driver at the time.
