How to get rid of Batman: Arkham Origins’ 40 seconds of unskippable logos and splash screens

Batman: Arkham Origins

Here’s a thing that every PC gamer will want to do as fast as possible — get rid of the 40 seconds of stupid, unskippable logos and splash screens you have to sit through every time the game boots up.

It’s quite simple — head to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Origins\SinglePlayer\BMGame\Movies

Remove (or rename) the following files:

bac_logo.usm
bac_logo_fra_PC.usm
bac_logo_mp.usm
bac_logo_PC.usm

Done. Enjoy!

Cheers Tim, will make sure to do this once my game has finished downloading.

My girlfriend said “wrong”… Though admittedly I think she was referring to things outside gaming.

Oh thank Christ.
Booted it up several times this morning before work while tweaking various graphic settings (which of-course require the game to be restarted) and I don’t think I’ve pointlessly mashed my escape key as much as I did with this one.

When. Will. Game. Devs. Learn.
sigh.

Even if she was talking about something outside of gaming, and even if she was real, she’d wanna put up a REAL good show to compare with batman!

40 seconds? THE WORLD IS ENDING!

{/sarcasm}

Seriously though, I don’t see what the big deal is.

I dont know why this kind of thing irritates me so much. Its just so unnecessary in my mind. its pretty obvious from a games box or store page who the hell makes it. At the least allow it to be skippable ffs.

Deleting the files the intro movies works almost every time.

40 seconds would have been about 5 minutes with me fucking about with graphics settings, I’m glad it’s painless to remove them :)

Less than 40 seconds to remove them too, but hey if people want to see them every time you start, good for them I guess.

Yes, many thanks

add -nostartupmovies to launch options. ;)

anonemoose,

Careful! Using those options like that may have undesirable results like skipping certain in-game cinematics.

Tim Colwill,

Your technique could be made simpler by renaming Startup.swf as it is the file that the engine calls that loads each video file in the video roll. While you are there, you might as well do the same to Startup_MP.swf as well for when that time comes.

I hope that makes things easier…

“It can deep fry a bull in 40 seconds!”
“awww, 40 seconds, but I want it now!”
