Victory Games have finally announced the release dates for the free-to-play Command & Conquer, with activity beginning as soon as the end of this month.

Those dates are:

  • Week of October 28th – Alpha update
  • Week of November 25th – Closed beta begins
  • Week of February 24th – Launch

“This C&C is a live service, so there is no one version that will be final,” says development director Tim Morten. “It was difficult to decide the right moment to share our work, and there will always be some who want us to hold it longer, but I believe we will benefit from having your broader feedback in the beta.”

You can sign up at the official site.

Awesome news. The gameplay demo’s I’ve seen look great, can’t wait.

I wonder if they’ll accept closed beta applications from Australia or if I should just break out the old US VPN.

There are people in Australia that have access to the closed beta at this time. But there is a no-discloser agreements that you agree to when signing up for the closed beta. ;D

If you picked up the C&C first decade you “could” get beta access, I believe.

Actually the NDA has been lifted, loads of video’s all over youtube.

kablekill,

“people” ay? ;-)

Would these “people” advise us to join them or wait for the gold release?

Thank you kindly, sir. :D

Give it a go!

For me the game just doesn’t feel like Command & Conquer, it just feels like your normal every day strategy game. Nothing special about the game for me.

You might fine something that you like about it, so give it a go.

Yeah there are Aussies on there. I’m in the alpha.

Ping doesn’t matter as much in a real time strategy game than a first person shooter. So of course they will get people from all over. Australia is one of the largest markets too.
