Assassin’s Creed 4′s fleet management system locked without an online pass

This won’t affect PC gamers as much — if at all — but at this moment we can’t be sure, so here’s the information anyway: it looks like users who don’t enter a Uplay Passport code and have it verified online are unable to use Assassin’s Creed 4‘s in-game fleet management system.

After taking over enemy vessels in combat, you have the option to add the ship to your fleet. Once it’s there you can send it on missions and things, which is all very cool… but apparently if you don’t have a Uplay Passport, this feature is not available to you.

The Uplay Passport is seperate to a Uplay account; it’s a game-specific code included with console copies. While the fleet management system does contain some online aspects, these are entirely optional, and the whole thing can be done offline.

Ubisoft have yet to comment.

Yeah im playing on chipped 360. The fleet management is no real big deal. Doesn’t change the story, if anything it keeps you a little more focused on the story.

 

Still a bit of a dick move but if it’s anything like the management bits of the last game then it’s no big loss.

 

Looks like Ubisoft is trying to compete with Activision and EA for most evil publisher.

 

My playstation 3 has no internet connection to it as I have no access to it in my room. If more games are going like this I’m questioning the whole point of doing anything besides PC games.

Ubisoft is already the worst publisher in my book.

They don’t even try to make consumers happy. At least EA tries.

 

EA > Ubisoft > Activision

Going by thier PC releases. I don’t like any of these publishers one bit, but I won’t let that stop me buying a game I’m interested in. I just hold off until I see pricing that appropriately reflects the time and effort put into the title (including post-release support).

Anything that isn’t COD has next to nil of that, so I tend to never buy activision titles.
