The delayed single-player campaign for ArmA 3 has now been dated for October 31, with the first instalment due to arrive then and the others to follow.

The first episode is called ‘Survive’ and casts you as Ben Kerry, part of a NATO peacekeeping mission in the Mediterranean. “Following a couple of years of uneasy cease-fire, this US-led deployment is now in the process of a staged drawdown. The vacuum left by withdrawing forces is being rapidly filled by CSAT, creating the conditions for, one might say, a flashpoint”, says ArmA 3‘s Jay Crowe.

‘Survive’ will include new weapons, animations, 3D objects and scripted modules, which in true ArmA fashion are “each designed to enable content creators even greater freedom to create and share their own content”.

I am so excited about this. ArmA has never been about pub multiplayer to me, it’s been about crafted co-op or SP experiences.

A3′s Steam Workshop has been copping a hammering from me and is adding years to the title thanks to other players’ content.

But a proper Bohemian SP… this time around… I think it’s going to be really special and even more fun than A2 and all its expansions (of which I enjoyed all except maybe the Czech Army one).

I’ve been waiting for something like this before taking the A3 plunge. Might seriously consider it now.

It’s worth the plunge now thanks to the Steam Workshop content!

For myself Arma isn’t about the mission I play but rather the people I play with.

Same here, my fav part of the games has always been small squad, infantry co-op. Regularly do a mission or two with the lads when i can rustle someone up to play with.
