Planetary Annihilation

Planetary Annihilation backers will already know, but those of you following along from the outside will be excited to hear that Uber Entertainment’s spherical space-based RTS is now in beta.

The biggest way this affects you is the price: buying in on Steam through Early Access is now only $60, down from $90 for alpha access in June.

Enjoy!

You serious? I played the alpha 2 times tops and was reallllly looking forward to beta. Now I finally get to crash planets together :D

I’ve been looking forward to this! :p

Wow, those graphics are looking a lot better suddenly!

They do, the iterations on the graphics have really gone up a level, while still stylised and almost edging on cartoony they do remind me of TA a lot and look the part too :)

Though admittedly first attempt to play has just resulted in failure 3 times with a mate, however I haven’t tried with randoms…

The joys of beta testing :D

I haven’t been able to successfully start a game… at all…

RSOblivion,

wanell,

Bear in mind that the solar system generation can take a LONG time at the start of a match. I made a custom system with 3 planets and 4 moons, and it took probably 5-6 minutes before I got to the game and had the option to pick a starting area, It might look like it’s frozen or w/e, but be patient!

Waiting for full release (got it cheap during the KS), looking forward to it tho game is looking pretty epic.

Oh yeah, I figured that. But I waited a good 15 minutes for a game to load. It eventually did but only loaded a black screen with music, 5 mins after that I just end tasked that game, most of my other tries didn’t even get past the lobby after everyone was readied up. Also a fun note the game ended up loading 3.5GB worth of stuff in to the RAM, during that time it wasn’t reading anything off the HDD so it would appear they’ve coded this up in some crazy way.

Played TA when I was a teenager and LOVED it! Just gonna wait for this thing to go final and check it out then, hopefully it blows me away, literally!

mrthumpy,

I now find myself needing to know if you can take one planet, and smash it into another. If so, I’m buying this damn thing the second it’s released. You know, out of beta and all that. Promo material so far has only shown moons and the like being smashed into planets so far. I really want to go nuts with this sort of game.

You honestly need a shitload of RAM for this game. Like Wanell mentioned, PA sucked up about 4gb of it for a 3 person match with about 5 planets.

I have 16GB of perdy RAM at my disposal so not to fussed :P I still haven’t tried it though, GTA V has been sucking up all my gaming time.
