Hawken’s biggest expansion yet will bring Oculus Rift support

If your game doesn’t have Oculus Rift support, it’s basically not even cool any more — and Hawken is very cool. So cool in fact that they’re adding Oculus Rift support in their latest expansion, as well as… well, basically everything else.

The latest patch is called Ascension, and brings a new game mode called Offline Team Deathmatch where you can practice entirely against AI-controlled bots to learn the ropes before hitting up the online battles (there is no XP gain in this mode, however). In fact, the way that you level up, gain XP, and unlock new mechs has been completely reworked, and a new ‘overflow’ system is in place that allows you to keep earning more XP for your other mechs even once you’ve completely ranked up in the one you’re currently playing in.

There’s also a new lush green forest map called Eco, a new party system, and heaps of tweaks and bugfixes. Get the official patch notes here, or watch the trailer below for more. The patch, originally due today, has been delayed and is now due out this coming Tuesday, September 10.

I’ve been playing this actively for ages, this patch is the best thing since sliced bread…..for Hawken.

I have a Recruit lvl 25 (From Beta 2)
Also a Rocketeer lvl 22 I’ve been trying to get to 25 quickly

Also to note, as Oceania mainly has 1-2 select OZ servers populated barely, and the mayhem servers being exactly that with 250-300ms ping :(
US WEST is a viable option, which I’ve been playing on their servers @ 240-280ms and also has Siege mode as well as the mayhem’s serve of TDM/Missile Assault. Last night was a late one for the patch only for me to read way later its delayed to the 10th. :/
Rocketeer will be 25 by then :)

God damn this looks good.

i think i’ll stick with Mechwarrior Online… this still looks and feels like COD-with-mechs

I think that was their point….
Fast Paced Mech FPS, Mech games are nothing new, but Hawken is definitely a change from the norm, and for good reason, I grew out of COD years ago, but this is a lot more engaging.
