Smash down to the core.

Taking its cues from Minecraft, SOE’s upcoming voxel-MMO EverQuest Next will have completely randomly generated tunnels underneath the earth for you to explore.
How do you explore them? By smashing your way through the walls and floors, of course, like you can see in these videos. These caverns and tunnels will be generated “on the fly” for players.
This hands-on from PC Gamer claims the underworld will contain different strata, such as underground lakes, crystal caves, and a volcanic core, all of which correlate to different periods in the world’s history.
The world will reportedly rebuild itself slowly over time, while some areas won’t be damageable at all. The overworld will be standard, SOE-designed fantasy landscapes and cities, but these too will be destructible (except in special cases).
