Our best wishes to affected staff.

Eight employees were let go from Irrational Games this week, the BioShock Infinite developer has confirmed in a statement.
“In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of eight employees today. Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best,” an Irrational Games spokesperson wrote.
Beyond the streamlining mentioned above, no explanation has surfaced for the cuts; unfortunately, lay-offs are common between major development cycles as not all developmental roles are required during every step of the process, especially in lengthy projects like triple-A releases.
Irrational is known to be working on a couple of DLC packs for BioShock: Infinite but as yet we haven’t heard anything about follow-up projects. An anxious query from Kotaku regarding the knock-on effect of the lay-offs evinced an assurance that the cuts have not affected development of upcoming DLC ‘in any way”.
