Titanfall’s four-minute gameplay video shows you everything you need to know about jetpacks and giant mechs

Titanfall

Titanfall is one of the few games I’m genuinely looking forward to at the moment, and in the space of four short minutes, the gameplay video below will hopefully show you why. It give you a taste of everything, from on-foot combat, to jetpack-powered parkour, to calling in your own robot and even riding around on the back of a friends’.

The video comes fresh out of Gamescom, where you can expect to see more of Titanfall over the coming days. What we do know about it, however, is that it will have dedicated servers on PC — great news for Australian gamers.

Titanfall launches early 2014 — unfortunately it’s already $20 more expensive for Aussies.

Well that was certainly much more interesting than the previous one

Good, so it has a hope after all… and it looks like Jason and Vince still has the touch.

niice

that is all

lol at that 1:04 neck snap

This looks mad as.

I’m pretty sure I saw the original one, but it can’t have left much of an impression.

That looked pretty damn cool though.

It’s funny how so many traditional gameplay mechanics are starting to seem out of place as things are getting more realistic though – I’m normally not much of a nit-picker, but it seemed really out of place that his rocket launcher should take so long to lock on to a hulking mech target a few metres away…

Looks very nice! :o

Or rather why didn’t he just dumbfire it…

since u know… it’s a GIANT, a few meters away…

seriously, it’s not like he’s gonna miss unless he’s got a horrible aim…

oh wait, it was played using console gamepad… nvm what i just said.

nothing here appeals to me … everytime they show footage it looks more and more “eh” looks like CoD with free running and mechs.

i hate regenerating health bring back med kits

Looks great for a game built on the Source engine.

What I don’t get about mechs is this, what can that mech do, that a tank can’t? Whats the point of creating a mechanised unit that is basically just a big soldier thats easy to hit and easy to kill (SHOOOT DAAHH BRREEENNNZZZ)?

This game looks great, pity I wont be playing it though.

Look cool…

and blow up good…

I mean naturally we’re just looking for an excuse to have a giant mech blowing each other to scraps…

not really caring as much on the fact that they are worthless combat asset in all practicality.

It is ? O_o

Also Half-life 2 is still one of the best looking games to date while the engine is dated it still performs incredibly.

bronzed,

ahh gotcha.

Yeah, I remember that time in COD where parkour’d across walls, using my jetpack to get onto rooftops where I then called in my 30-foot tall mech from outer-space.

There’s very little Source engine left :) They’ve basically re-written the whole thing over the last 3 years.

I like the concept of evacuating upon defeat. I wonder what the incentive for that is.
