Saints Row 4 Steam release date changes again, now just says “September”

Over the weekend we reported that the Australian release date for Saints Row 4 had been pushed back to September 20 on Steam.

Now it looks like even that may not be certain. Rather than release on September 20, it’s apparently now just releasing in “September”.

EB Games is now listing the release date for retail as September 12. Hopefully the Steam listing will be updated soon to read the same.

There has still been no word from Deep Silver on why the game has been delayed, or whether or not Australians will be able to successfully received Rest-of-World (ROW) versions through Steam without them being converted to Low Violence versions.

Whelp, piracy to the rescue…

spike4379,

Just because you can’t get something legally doesn’t mean you’re entitled to get it illegally. It’s a childish mentality.

xanarax,

Deal with it.

xanarax,

on the other hand some of us literally already legally own the game but are unable to play it on it’s regular world wide release dates of 20~23rd august due to arbitrary regional malarky that shouldn’t exist in this day of digital distribution anyway.

No piracy here, just acquiring the game I already paid for.

In related news, preloading is now available on Steam.

No piracy here either… I’ve also already paid for this game…

xanarax,

Yes because baiting and switching Australian gamers, changing the content of their perfectly legal gifted copies without their consent and refusing to answer for any of the latest nonsense is perfectly honest and mature.

Frankly I think DS deserve whatever they get over this.

Is that the AU version also, cause my ROW Amazon copy is preloading as we speak also.

xanarax,

people should pay for games sure but he never claimed to be entitled to the game,
if the only way you can get access to something you want is thru piracy why not ?

it’s still piracy whether you own it or not.

if you don’t like their business practices don’t play their games if you want to take a moral stand other wise if you intend to pirate just admit you’re a dick who doesn’t like paying for things people worked really hard on and move on.

don’t try acting like you’re the victim here.

wintermuteau,

Can you buy it straight from Amazon without issue? I mean without having to VPN or put up a US address. I’ve never tried to buy a PC download via them before.

Or anyone else with details about it?

spitfiresson,

Just make a fake account with a US address and a credit card (I used a Visa Debit, not sure if others work). No VPN or anything. Works perfectly, I’ve grabbed two games for Origin and Steam this way so far. My details were Elwood Blues, 1060 West Addison Street, Chicago, Illinois 60613.

It won’t work with an Australian account.

@piracy discussion

I 100% guarantee that delays are factored into the terms and conditions you agreed to when you pre-ordered the game. I don’t know how content changes would are dealt with, but if you’re dissatisfied get a refund.

phylum,

Digital retailers which have already provided you with a steam key generally don’t honour refund requests (And honestly who buys at inflated ‘Australia-tax’ prices from steam/local stores these days..?).

The release date changed within the last few days without consulting or letting anyone know it was to occur (and have rudely refused to answer both user emails and statement requests from news outlets like GoN here); the release date hasn’t changed in any other civilized nation; the release date was not advertised correctly at the time of my purchase – ergo I’ll be playing a torrented version of the game I legally bought and own and should be able to play until the game decides to unlock in this backwards ass country on steam.

You’re talking to someone with 700 legally owned games in their steam account and who frowns upon piracy here…. except in this case there’s no theft involved since I have receipts and proof of purchase. Clearly if the game was just unlocked at it’s advertised upon date this wouldn’t even be an issue or something I’d be entertaining, so who exactly are you blaming again..?

Hands up whos sick of SR4 already? *raises hand*

too much palava. won’t be buying.

Grow up FFS, the world is not going to end in the delay.

I have been able to start playing Saints Row 4 (and it doesn’t mention it is the Australian version).

I bought the copy off Amazon (The ROW/NA version) using a US billing address for my Aussie CC. I then added the key to Steam and it “preloaded” the game as it wasn’t ready for release yet. I closed Steam, connected to my work VPN (based in the US) and when I started Steam, Saints Row IV was unpacked and playable.

I’ve disconnected from The US VPN, and the game is still playable. I’ve not restarted the game, but will let you know if it breaks!
