League of Legends female characters pretty much all banned at World Cyber Games in Iran

League of Legends Ladies

Iranian laws regarding indecency have forced the World Cyber Games Iran organisers to ban almost every single female League of Legends character from the tournament.

The list of banned characters so far stands at Ahri, Akali, Ashe, Caitlyn, Cassiopia, Diana, Elise, Evelyn, Fiora, Irelia, Janna, Karma, Katarina, Kayle, Leblanc, Leona, Lissandra, Lulu, Lux, Miss Fortune, Morgana, Nami, Nidalee, Oriana, Quinn, Riven, Sejuani, Shyvana, Sivir, Sona, Soraka, Syndra, Tristana, Vayne, Vi, and Zyra. Some of these characters are currently under “consideration” and may have their bans lifted depending on what skins are used.

WCG Iran aren’t happy about the limitation, but stated that if they do not comply, the event will be banned and nobody will be playing League of Legends at all. LoL as a game is banned in Iran, so even being allowed to play under these limitations is considered a small victory.

The tournament is scheduled for somewhere between September 12 to 16.

Kayle wears full body armour … This makes no fucking sense at all.

why would they even bother having an event there in the first place?

Didn’t you watch Argo? lol

That event in Iran will never go ahead when the USA starts bombing the crap out of Syria.

On a good note, No Vayne! Sick of seeing her in game.

Not trying to defend what is clearly a secretarian and an all round rather stupid decision, but maybe if developers started clothing/arming female characters with consideration for their safety on the field of battle we’d stop running into these problems.

Just proves LoL is a game for sad basement manchildren.

This sounds like just plain sexism rather than an objection to revealing outfits. Tristana? Diana, Leona? Lulu? Kayle? Seriously? If you don’t know League then take a look at these and ask whether these characters are wearing revealing outfits and take note these aren’t the only ones that aren’t super revealing, yes there are plenty of revealing characters but they’re not the ones being singled out here, it’s female characters in general.

Tristana

Lulu

Kayle

Leona

Diana

It’s part of their culture for woman to cover up in berkas. It’s not common for woman to be dressed in any less that a full length curtain (essentially).

I don’t agree with it, but when in Rome…

kinkykel,

But you can see her… lips.

It might start a trend with WCG matches. Limitation macthes. No Women, No Men, No Monsters, etc…

Islam in general is sexist and backwards it makes sense

If LOL is banned in iran and they are holding a LOL games competition how many people are they expecting to rock up?

Wait, why is it even banned?

matty,

My guess is because of the female champions.

I notice Annie isn’t on the list, so you can play a little girl but not a woman?

I think the point is really ‘don’t go to Rome if Rome has prehistoric goddamn sexist b.s. rules’.

To be fair, so are Christianity and Judaism.

kinkykel,

Yeah the only females who weren’t banned were Anivia (who’s actually a bird) Annie (a child) and Poppy (think Tristana from above only a tad on the ugly side).

Along with the face, the female form should not be visible or at least not be pronounced. So even if they are well covered like Kayle they can still get banned for that reason.

O yea definitely, I’m not singling out islam here it’s just in islamic regions fundamentalists get alot more power.
