If you’re a UPlay user or you have an Ubisoft account, the company are advising that you change your password immediately.
In an email received by Ubisoft account holders this morning, they advise that “one of our web sites was exploited to gain unauthorised access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.”
“During this process, we learned that data had been illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. Please note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.”
While the passwords are of course encrypted it’s safe to assume the worst and change your password anyway — as well as changing it anywhere else that you use the same one. I can’t remember what mine is, so now is as good a time as any to reset it.
