Mojang have released Minecraft 1.6 into the wild, and it’s now available for you to download by logging into the Minecraft site.
The reason you need to head over to the official site is because 1.6 brings an entirely new launcher, and can’t simply be patched up from 1.5. I’ve taken a screenshot of the new launcher below so you can get an idea — it’s a lot more complex and allows you to do things like set specific profiles for running with different parameters, as well as view logs and manage your install more thoroughly. Of course you can always simply just press ‘play’ and get right into it, which is always a good option.
Take a look:
1.6 also brings with it horses, horse armour, carpets and a bunch of other goodies. Get the changelog here.
