Mad Max will finally have a proper Australian accent

Mad Max

Mad Max is somewhat of an iconic Australian film, and the revelation that the upcoming game of the same name would replace Max with a generic grizzled American action-man voice left a lot of people quite unhappy.

Now, Avalanche studio head Christopher Sundberg has revealed via Twitter that the Australian accent is set to return.

“Attn. fans who want Max to have an Aussie accent in #MadMaxGame: It shall be so,” he wrote. “We admire your loyalty. You have been heard.”

The news comes after more than 2,500 people pledged their support in a petition started by our bros over at Ausgamers. Good work, guys.

Now we can wait for people to start complaining about the character’s crappy Australian accent.

Village idiot

Will the Americans need subtitles?

Well they better get a real Aussie voice actor and not some American or South African putting on an Australian accent like in American TV Shows.

Yeah my hope now is it’s a good Aussie accent, by an Australian or someone talented enough to do it, if it’s at Dead Island level, I’d rather it was a good American accent.

I find it interesting that Facebook chose mindsnares avatar for the thumbnail to this article lol.

What’s even weirder is that gif is the exact expression I made when I saw my avatar pop up in the feed.

Woo woo! We got what we wanted.

I’ll buy this now.

cool, would a petition get Mel Gibson into the movie?

if yes I can start one

Drivin’s a good job, mate.

Nice, glad to see they listen to the fans :) if its anywhere near as awsome as JC2, this will be great :D

I’ll be convinced when they reveal who the voice actor will be……Mel Gibson?

I’m kinda surprised they thought people wouldn’t have been annoyed about this in the first place. Gamers are a notoriously passionate bunch (with good reason).
