With the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops in 2010, games.on.net and Gameservers.com established a great business partnership that has delivered the best online gaming experience to hundreds of thousands of Australian gamers.

Now, as we roll into the second half of 2013, we’re set to take that partnership a step further with the announcement of some exciting new plans that we’ll be kicking off very shortly.

For a long time, people have been asking us “When can I rent out a games.on.net server for my friends or my clan?” Well, we’re very happy to announce that you’re now able to do just that. Through Gameservers.com, we’re offering you the ability to plug directly into the combined gaming networks of both iiNet and Internode.

These servers will be your responsibility, so they won’t be policed by our admins or subject to our rules — but you can look forward to the same rock-solid, lightning-fast gameplay you get right here on our regular servers — and all quota-free, naturally (for iiNet group customers only).

You can find out more about the pricing that Gameservers.com offers by clicking right here.

But that’s not all! We’re also expanding our hardware to include new, Western Australian-based machines hosted by iiNet on the west coast. We know how important it is to shave off those precious milliseconds, and now WA gamers won’t have to pipe across the country and back just to get their game on.

We’ve got even more plans in store which we can’t wait to share with you. Stay tuned!

Can’t wait for more unmetered servers!

This is … fucking excellent! Great work guys.

WA has such a large gaming community. Local game servers are certainly welcome :)

So your saying everything here in OZ will be hosted via GON gaming network when using gameservers.com?

If so,

That is awesome, and if they can get the DayZ servers to host here in OZ then we are sold.

Also as for teamspeak its about $1.20 dearer/month to use game servers servers.

Although I think that GON customers should get a discount over regular users to entice more iinet/GON customers and more sales of servers too.

This is fantastic news. I wish this came out sooner. Will this be available to BF3 and also the upcoming BF4 servers? If so, I won’t be looking anywhere else for game servers.

That’s correct. The iiNet Group (and therefore GON) are the exclusive Australian providers of bandwidth for Gameservers.com. :)

Yes, Gameservers.com do BF3 servers — and I have no reason to believe they won’t do BF4 servers either :)

Also when you go to rent a server you have a selection of games to choose from then the location the server is based and if you cant use any local servers it will tell you there are none in that location.

Congrats guys, been a long time coming, great to see it here!

Please bring back WA QuakeLive Servers :)

Brilliant news for BF4 gamers in WA!!!

Oh yeah baby! Maybe you guys can sweeten the pot even further. What if iiNet group customers get access to cheaper pricing? Or are we asking too much from gameservers to do that?

I hope they will be better than the current crappy GON BF3 servers. The 64p servers turn into stuttering slideshows once you get above 55 odd players, unplayable at 64.

Shame there isn’t one 32 player conquest server in SA… gamers all around the Country would have a decent ping with smooth brilliant game-play.

will these be free like the ipgn and telstra servers? i click the link and all i saw was $$$ :-\

Is quota-free traffic really important to players these days, with such high quota allowances, even on the budget plans?

It’s rarer and rarer that I hear another player complain that they are shaped and cannot play on a server.

There is no dedicated server options available in Australia, only ‘pay-per-slot’ options, which don’t come with bandwidth limitations (for the server) anyway.

So by renting with GameServers, you’re only ‘benefit’ is you might entice iiNet customers to play on your server if they have been shaped, or have a budget plan and worried about using too much traffic when gaming.

To me this is such as minor benefit, that most people would be better off just shopping around for a better deal.

Why not rent branded GON servers at discounted rates to GON customers? Isn’t this what most people would want (in addition to unmetered traffic)? You’re master plan offers incentive (minor) for customers to PLAY on GameServers, but doesn’t offer much incentive for customers (or anyone else) to actually RENT the servers.

DayZ was mentioned above, and even though it was a bandwidth intensive game, it didn’t seem to matter to most players if they played on GON’s unmetered servers or not. They just go for the most popular servers, as people do with most games.

Unmetered content is nice, but if that’s the Master Plan, it needs something more.

so…. how do we rent out a games.on.net server? Do we just go to gameservers.com?
