CryENGINE coming to Linux as developer begins hiring

Crytek have quietly confirmed that a Linux version of their popular game engine is on the way.

A job listing for a Linux programmer has appeared on the developer’s site, with duties including “work on the Linux version of the 3d engine”.

The main responsibility of the programmer will be to “maintain Linux support for CryENGINE”.

Pretty conclusive, then, but Linux gamers should probably wait for an official announcement before getting too excited.

Not surprised by this. With star citizen utilising cryengine 3 and indicating they would like to provide support for linux builds and work with crytek studios to do so, it was only a matter of time before action was taken by crytek.

Holy retro logos batman! :D

Cool stuff inbound :)
