Bethesda looking positive on Dishonored sequels, not so much on RAGE

Bethesda’s Pete Hines has reiterated his earlier belief that Dishonored could be spun out into a franchise.

“In general, we try not to wade into anything as a one-off in the first place,” said Hines to IGN. “So yeah, for sure. The success of that game and how proud Arkane is of it and what goes on at any studio when they put out something like that and all the ideas that are coming out, certainly it’s something that we feel is a franchise.”

On recent reports that RAGE 2 may have been cancelled, Hines was less enthusiastic, saying “To be determined. We’ll see.”

“Right now, [Id’s] focus is on their current project. They are full bore on that. What I’ve seen of it recently, I’m super happy about it. We want them to stick to that until we’re ready to talk about what that is. But let’s wait until we get there first.”

Boo. One of the great things about Dishonored was that it was something new in a sea of sequels.

Get the people who made it cracking on their next big idea, not Dishonored 2: The Dishonoring.

maybe it won’t be a direct sequel maybe they’ll pick a new island or continent, maybe it’ll just be more of the same world … which would be awesome

If they’re going to continue Corvo’s story, at least have the events/choices of the first game affect how the sequel plays out, ala Mass Effect.

 

Sounds good. There’s plenty of lore from the first game they can work with. They could have the player travel to Pandyssia, which is kinda important if you read/listen to anything in the game.
