Mad Max teaser trailer confirms that Max is indeed mad

Mad Max

You’ve probably heard — because the Internet was all abuzz with it — but a Mad Max game has been announced at E3 this year. And in true E3 style, there is a trailer to go with it.

An open-world, third-person action game, you will play the titular crazy man vying to survive in a post-apocalyptic, car-eats-car world. You will scavenge The Wasteland for materials to make your car the biggest, best and most hungry of all the cars, while performing dangerous missions and generally ruining everyone else’s day.

Scheduled for release in 2014, Mad Max may be a little while off, but the E3 announcement trailer really illustrates the concept perfectly: the brutality, the violence, the need to save your precious resources and of course, the mad cars. Check it out below.

Just Cause Mad Max style? I’m ok with this.

I heard it might not be set in Australia. Sort of makes sense given that the Mad Max setting would presumably reflect a global crisis, and I can’t really think of a way to show that it’s in that universe than calling it Mad Max, but if they call it that, you better play as him, and he is in Australia.

And it will hopefully feature an Assortment of Australian cars lol

now this i can get behind :D

it would be awesome if its A) set in Australia B) have Australian muscle cars C) maybe some burnt out ruined Australian cities that aren’t sydney D) if it is in australia, then the guns would be very hard to come by unless you had a lot of things(money) to trade for the weapon and ammo or you could create spears and bows and lastly but not least E) propper Australia accents none of this awesome fake accents just hire bloody australian voice actors damn it and also Australia is multicultural country so we aren’t all white and aboriginal so you can really mix things up with people and places as well

Perfect trailer for Mad Max. Has got me all eager for the game.

..btw isn’t there a movie in the works?

So it’s set for a release to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the movie. Damn that makes me feel old.

Came to post this.

Was disappointed at the American accent in the trailer.

If they’re going to use American accents to cater to the dumbf*ck yank consumers, I just hope it’s modable with custom voice tracks.

Good luck with that… lol.

Mad Max 2 indicates that there was a global nuclear war, though, so one reason it’s in Australia is presumably that we are remote and didnt get nuked as badly.

Would make no sense IMHO for a Mad Max game to be set anywhere other than outback Australia, with Australians. That’s sort of the whole deal.

A quick read up on the new movie suggests that they are going to ruin Mad Max with an English actor playing an American character. It’s not being filmed in Australia either.

So I think we can expect this game (while potentially awesome as a concept) will have lame American stuff all over it.

Yes.

Perhaps we could have Australian localization?

If I recall a recent interview with Megan Gale correctly, much of the new Mad Max movie was being filmed in South Africa, so I would say there is nothing to suggest the game would necessarily set in Australia…and to be honest the location doesn’t bother me so much as how they pull off the game & movie.

The new movie was meant to be filmed in Australia, but filming kept on being delayed because of rain running location. So eventually they had to change shooting location to South Africa.

And yes Tom Hardy is playing Max, not a bad choice really.
