Bethesda’s next game is “really awesome” but a long way off

One of the hottest industry rumours pre-E3 was that Bethesda would reveal its next game at the show, surprisingly early given it’s only just put the cherry on Skyrim. This clearly didn’t happen, but vice president Pete Hines told OXM that the core team at Bethesda Game Studios led by Skyrim director Todd Howard is indeed working on something, and it is “100% unrelated” to Zenimax Online’s current title, The Elder Scrolls Online.

“Todd Howard, at this point, has earned the right to do what the hell he wants; nobody gets to tell him different and nobody gets to dictate to him what he gets to do. Do you think that even I would go to Todd and say ‘listen, I know you want to do this, but these other guys…?’ He gets to do whatever he wants. Him and his team are moving forward with the stuff that they want to work on and where they want to go next in making games,” Hines said.

“I get to see it and it’s already really awesome, but it’s probably helpful to note that anyone who thinks that what he’s working on next is going to be talked about soon doesn’t understand game development. They just announced that they’re moving the whole team onto something else. Give these guys time and space, expect it never and be surprised if it’s any time before then.”

Hines said that Bethesda doesn’t want to announce the new project yet because it’s not interested in reveals with “no substance”, which would be quite likely so early in development.

Fans are, of course, expecting the new project to be Fallout 4 or The Elder Scrolls VI – but you never know.

Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. Fallout. alphasierra216,

You seem to be missing an extremely important point there. Allow me to correct it…

Ahem….

Fallout.

fallout of elder scrolls on next gen…mahh gawwwwd! my brain melts trying to imagine it!

to hell with fall out next gen elder scrolls please

But Bethesda makes terrible Fallout games… Ruined 3 and tried to retcon and remove a lot of the established lore from the franchise, Dunno why everyone is so excited about the prospect of them making another one…?

Wasteland 2 should fulfill my Fallout needs, would prefer Bethesda to actually create a new and fresh IP, since the Elder Scrolls games keep going downhill since Morrowind also ;(

I’m actually surprised Bethesda hasn’t done another Terminator game yet. Would rather one of those in the same style as Fallout.

I’m skeptic if Bethesda could actually create a new IP in this day and age, given that they’ve stuck pretty much to making games with well established lore. Lets be fair here None of the people that created Elderscrolls’ lore even works there anymore, so it’s a different ball game if they have to create a new IP, chances are it won’t come out as good.

Bitch say whaaaa ?
Fallout 3 + NV were amazing games, just because you didn’t enjoy them it doesn’t make them terrible.

Aside from butchering the lore with a chainsaw and generally missing the entire atmosphere of the first games, absolutely!

Word. Can’t wait for the next [proper] Elder Scrolls \o/

way to not know shit. Dishonored was developed by Arkane.. Not Bethesda. The only member from Dishonored that worked on it was Todd Howard. The rest of the team was Harvey Smith and the people at Akrane that did the bulk if not the entirety of the work. Bethesda Game Studios (so not the publisher) itself has not ever put out its own IP beyond Elder Scrolls, Delta V and a few sports titles.

Way to know less shit.
Arkane studios =zenimax media zenimax media = Bethesda
Bethesda could/would draw on any resources in the company it needed to make a new IP.
being pedantic about it tho is just silly, it’s still a “Bethesda title” irrespective of which one of their developers made it.

I liked the first games I prefer the new ones tho. personal preference I guess, the “lore butchering” was really a moot point for me, simply poor old lore is unimportant just think of it as a reboot and move on.

+1

Just because I bought 1 and 2 back in the days of giant shiny cardboard packaging doesn’t make to 1337 to admit that 3 + NV are also awesome games.

Hopefully 4 is less of a bitch to get stable with multiple mods.

Also the next TES needs the spellmaker back fo sho.

Next-gen fallout would make me cry the happy tears.

That would be awsome! Would love it if they did do that

Arkane studios was the developer. Bethesda softworks was the publisher. zenimax is the whole company. bethesda softworks is the gaming department of zenimax. bethesda softworks published but they did not develop dishonored other wise it would say bethesda game studios on it. they only game the co developed with bethesda game studios was fallout: new vegas by obsidian entertainment. they are several developers owned by zenimax. they all publish under bethesda softworks. Bethesda game studios has only work on TES 3-5, fallout 3 and IHRA Drag Racing.

commieharps,

Thanks commie.

Its not a Bethesda Game Studio game though. So saying Fallout 4 is made by the developers of Dishonored is not correct and a bit unfair to the people that actually did make the game, after all they themselves have a huge history of fantastic games so why then should they be short changed?.. credit where credit is due.

now I have a job, I’m pretty sure I would take a day off on release of a new fallout. I don’t get excited about many things. a new fallout is one of them.
