Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon game coming in 2014

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon

By on May 22, 2013 at 8:47 am

One of the seven new Games Workshop titles in development has been revealed: Armageddon is due out in Q1 of 2014, and it’s a turn-based title in development over at Slitherine Games.

Set during the second war for Armageddon, players will control the Armageddon Steel Legion of Imperial Guard, as well as the Blood Angels, Ultramarines and Salamanders chapters of Space Marines as they attempt to drive out the ork invasion.

Slitherine are promising a branching campaign with 30 major scenarios, 100 unit types, complex plots which can change during battle, and persistent unit growth enabling you to field veterans who carry over from multiple games.

It will also have “extensive modding options”, and support for Slitherine’s play-by-email system integrated. Count me in.

“Extensive modding options”. That is always a nice bonus :)

Curious if this will follow the old classic Chaos Gate.

I’m sort of hoping it’s more in line with the old Epic 40k Final Liberation, at least that way we also get titans to play with

OOOOOOoooooo. Anything involving Orks is a damn good thing.

While this has gained my interest, admittedly, I just want a straight forward Warhammer 40k RTS and not another turn based game. :(

Needs less Space Marine chapters though :(

rapid101,

Agreed, but at least they are going for canonical accuracy. Those were the three involved chapters in the engagement of the second war. First war had Space Wolves as well, I believe. Third war was the biggest, I think.

I remember my first ever white dwarf magazine – the battle report was Ghazhgkull and Tycho fighting it out, except this was before they were characters in 40k lore – yes, it was THAT old, back in ’91 or so, when 2nd ed was first released. It was the battle where Tycho got his messed up face from a weirdboy. I wonder where I put it…

Awesome news.

Nice. Hopefully there will be another Dawn Of War installment.

So glad we get to play as Space Marines, Spess Marheens and more Spess Marheens. Who is interested in playing the more unique and interesting factions? Not this guy.

[Like] this shit out of this post

Are there any Warhammer 40k games coming out which aren’t focused on playing the Space Marines? :(
