Total War: Rome II to be released on September 3

Total War: Rome 2

By on May 10, 2013 at 9:29 am

SEGA and Creative Assembly have announced that Total War: Rome II will launch on Tuesday, September 3 in all territories.

Anybody who pre-orders (or has already pre-ordered) will receive the Greek States Culture Pack as free DLC, adding three new factions (Epirus, Athens and Sparta) to the game.

Also announced was the limited collectors edition, with only 22,000 numbered editions being produced and a bunch of admittedly fairly sweet stuff inside, including bone dice, a tabula set (“The Roman forerunner to backgammon”) and a canvas map.

Total War: Rome II is $80 on Steam, but why pay that when you can pay $60 for a Steam key through Green Man Gaming instead?

What about the catapult? How could you not mention the onager in the collectors edition? Someone’s going to lose an eye…

That’s one collectors edition I won’t be buying. The contents appear to be nothing more than cupboard filler (apart from perhaps the onager, at least for a little while) and thankfully it doesn’t contain any extra in-game content so there’s really nothing being missed out on.

Pre-order DLC..
Game costs $10 more than Shogun 2 did at Retail.
That catapult looks so lame too, very poor craftsmanship.

This is the last game anyone should be pre-ordering. Please hold off about a few months until the game is semi-passable as a product.

I’ve been waiting since Medieval 2 Total War for Rome 2 so no, I will not be holding off :D

aetius,

Don’t come crying to me when the game spontaneously crashes or your campaign gets corrupted.

*off to pre-order Rome II at GMG*

gammad,

You really have an axe to grind on this one. Can’t think of a single Rome II article in the last few months that you haven’t complained about Total War on…

matthewdev,

Kinda just annoyed there’s no real alternative to their worthless excuses for games. I’ve bought all the warscape games and they keep screwing me over. Again and again and again. I’ve learned my lesson. Fuck em.

*** Just pre ordered from GMG for $45 using a 25% pre order voucher that is currently available Voucher is GMG25-5GT67-87HJ9
and is current until May 17th as far as I can tell. Steams high % sales are sometimes ok, but for new games, GMG are consistently WAY cheaper

yeah it’s not like the total war games have been a success or anything! glad you learnt your lesson, go away and find something serious/real to complain about elsewhere

Apparently the Collectors Edition comes with a board game, so at least CA’s premium customers will have something to play for the first six months after release.

I certainly won’t be signing up to be a paying beta tester this time around.

korbain,

Define success really.. As I see so far Sega’s bleeding out their asses with revenue problems.. I seriously doubt this game will plug the leak even with so many idiot rent-a-crowds paying top dollar for a shoddy half developed tech-demo. Did you stupid people learn nothing from Aliens Colonial Marines, its a issue with all of Sega’s developers because they’re all very poorly managed.

I hope they burn you into the ground, burn you so hard you’ll never look at another creative assembly title again.

I must be mistaken as I thought most people actually wait until a title is released before passing judgement.

I also didn’t realise their were people who actually hoped a game to be a piece of rubbish.

My bad. Can’t say I have ever hoped a game to be a pile of crap myself…

matthewdev,

Don’t have to wait for a game to be released when the developer not even 12 months ago put out a game.. They haven’t given Rome 2 enough time and it shows (they still haven’t shown any campaign work). September ain’t far away and you retards out there that keep going “mer mer pre-alpha mer mer” need to realize that these are from builds not even 12 months old. That’s fuck all time to go from those Alphas (which even in the bullshots they put out had issues such as pathfinding) to a full functioning polished game..

The signs point to a very rushed game.
