Flaming Cliffs 3

Flaming Cliffs 3, the latest series of DCS World modules, has just launched today. With a new six-degrees-of-freedom cockpit model, new F-15C, Su-27, and Su-33 campaigns, and an overhauled HUD, it’s promising to be an impressive piece of kit for sim lovers. Check out the trailer below or hit up the official site where you can grab it for $49.99.

$50 for a module that you have to have the previous games for. More money I don’t have. :(

The only previous game you need is Lock-on: Modern Air Combat due to the ubisoft license and it’s a pretty cheap title these days. FC3 has been available as a pre-purchase beta for some months though the official trailer was just released this morning.
And the latest module is actually DCS: UH-1H Huey which was released last week as a pre-purchase beta and it is a very high quality module and definitely worth the 50usd.

Yeah I picked up LOMAC for $5 off ebay, worthwhile doing to open the doors to this.

FC3 is pretty boss because you can join any DCS server that includes modules you don’t own. If you try to fly something you haven’t bought you get a blank cockpit (it still flies but you just can’t start it). The F-15C and Su-27 are, I hear, going to be made to DCS standards at some point… the ones in FC3 are highly simplified and with about 7 button presses you’ll be up and firing missiles in no time.

Check out the Simulations forums to find other GoN sim-pilots. Y

when i get my next pay check, I’ll be all over this. I havn’t got time to go through a 50 point checklist anymore so this is right up my alley :D

Moose, the Huey is a tonne of fun and full DCS standard. Start-up is a mere 10 or so things and past that there’s little else required to just have fun flying around.

tempting – but i’m not a huge fan of choppers i must admit

..and i’m still yet to actually play the release version of p-51

Man, i really tried to get into FC2 but had nothing but trouble getting it to run smoothly. I think my best was 13% usage on one graphics card and barely 30% on one CPU Core at single digit frame rates.

DCS is apparently better optimized though yeah? Be nice to use all my flight sim kit

DCS is newer so whilst it might be more optimized if you couldnt run FC2 I wouldnt have high hopes for DCS. I have got a noticeable drop in framerate when doing a mission with lots of units but the game uses only 40% of my GPU and 30% of my CPU so I think this lag is just a result of the AMD drivers not making proper use of my GPU in this game.
