Indie developer Edmund McMillen has revealed in an interview that The Binding of Isaac, his randomly-generated weird roguelike action-shooter-thing, has sold over two million copies. That’s a number any developer would be happy to achieve, let alone an indie one.
McMillen stated that the success of the original had justified work on the expanded remake, which would no longer run in Flash but rather on its own custom game engine. Two-player co-op will also be included in the remake, which is to be titled The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
The sequel will be hitting PC, Vita and PS3, although probably not Nintendo as the original was rejected for the Nintendo DS due to “questionable religious content”.
