Ten minutes of savage Rome II gameplay footage

Rome II 580 x 300

From the sheer scope of the battlefield to the massive size of the armies, the Total War Series isn’t known for doing things by half measures. While other developers may be willing to hide behind pre-rendered cinematics, The Creative Assembly is offering up more than 10 minutes of Total War: Rome II campaign footage.

The action takes place in the Teutoburg Forest in what is now Germany. Here the well drilled Roman forces are suddenly set upon by a rampaging horde of barbarians. The game’s graphics engine scales beautifully as the player makes sweeping tactical decisions before zooming in to observe brutal clashes between man and horse, or indeed man and dog.

Though an exact date is yet to be pinned down, SEGA plans to release Total War: Rome II later this year.

Saw this yesterday, it looks epic I want to play this game so much right now. Also I then spent an hour reading about the battle on wikipedia etc rofl. XD

Looks very pretty, nice clean UI and great battle sounds. I’m dissapointed that they still kept tracers for archers, slightly ruins the immersion and realism of the game. I hope the AI is improved this time around as it has always been a game breaker in the total war series.

I see so many mistakes in that trailer that they could’ve address having just learned from what the modders did with Shogun 2. I see no real improvements other than graphical. Given that Roma Surrectum for Rome 1 looked bloody awesome anyway, I don’t think graphics were what CA needed to improve rather.. Oh I don’t know maybe the bloody stability and AI of their games perhaps!?.. I care about these more and they fact that they keep showing scripted battles makes me think same old shit.

hybridtrooper,

Agreed I’ve never been a fan of the tracer effect. However all things considered this is looking pretty awesome!
