From the sheer scope of the battlefield to the massive size of the armies, the Total War Series isn’t known for doing things by half measures. While other developers may be willing to hide behind pre-rendered cinematics, The Creative Assembly is offering up more than 10 minutes of Total War: Rome II campaign footage.
The action takes place in the Teutoburg Forest in what is now Germany. Here the well drilled Roman forces are suddenly set upon by a rampaging horde of barbarians. The game’s graphics engine scales beautifully as the player makes sweeping tactical decisions before zooming in to observe brutal clashes between man and horse, or indeed man and dog.
Though an exact date is yet to be pinned down, SEGA plans to release Total War: Rome II later this year.
