Obsidian’s CEO “would love to” pitch another Star Wars game to Disney

The team behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords could very well be back in the saddle if Obisidan’s CEO has his way. Speaking to Eurogamer, Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart revealed that they were still keen on talking to Disney in the wake of LucasArts’ closure.

“I had seen the news about LucasArts which was sad to see,” said Urquhart. “LucasArts was a great supporter of Obsidian when we were first starting out and many of their games are ones I, personally, count as favourites.

“As for Obsidian pitching a Star Wars game, or games for that matter, we would love to. Getting to work within the Star Wars world was a tonne of fun and it would be great to get to do so again.”

In February, Obsidian revealed that they were keen to do a new Star Wars game, and were waiting with a pitch ready for the dust to settle on the LucasArts closure. The time, it seems, has arrived — although the circumstances in which it happened are certainly not what anybody was hoping for.

yes yes yes…just FINISH it this time

Kickstart that shit.

I think we all know that a secret of monkey island RPG must be in development soon

Kickstarting a Star Wars game of any kind would be awesome – if you could do it. As it is, you can’t start a Kickstarted project without the approval of the I.P holder, which means that regardless, you have to make the pitch, and get it approved, before anything happens.

I hope they do though, and like Vid says, I hope they finish it. Given time to do it right, I’m sure Obsidian can make the game to end all games.

I would pledge $250 for a KOTOR II rebuild/sequel, just ‘saiyan, now that Bioware/SWTOR’s down the gurgler, this would be most excellent

I need a SW:Battlefront 3, hell playing BF2 is still the shiz, bigger maps, better graphics ect… maybe a few more ideas implemented into gameplay and i’d buy and kickstarter it for sure!

Yes Yes Yes Yes

Kickstart that shit.

Comeon, Disney holds Star Wars rights now!

Then again… they did dismantle LucasArts and have announced they want to let more studios have a crack at star wars games. Although I very much doubt Disney suits would ever put something on kickstarter.

Remember when they tried to sue a family for singing Happy Birthday in public at a restaurant, but backed off when their lawyers said the enormous negative publicity would kill the company?

I really hope Disney go all out with the IP and don’t be as strict on it as it used to be with very few companies making any titles out there.

Holy shit I remember that, didn’t know it was Disney trying to do the suing.

I wanted to see Battlefront First Assault. I hate disney for that.

I would love to see them fix up Kotor I & II, with all the restored content from the TSLRCM, as well as built in widescreen and possibly multimonitor support. I would buy both games six times over if they did that.

I’d also love to see a Kotor 3 with no modern/dumbed down BS in it. Kotor 2 was a masterpiece apart from its missing content and generally bugginess, but the series has the most engaging story I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy… even if I am a star wars nerd.
