Perfect World have announced that Neverwinter, the 4th-edition-based D&D MMO, is set to head into open beta at the end of this month.

Starting April 30, you’ll be able to jump straight in and play it for yourself. Before then however, existing beta-testers will enjoy another gameplay weekend from April 12-14 where they can test out the new professions, among other things.

Looks good? Hit up the registration page here and get ready for the 30th.

I was the other way around, i found the combat refreshing and intuitive within minutes. It’s a rare MMORPG launch that DOESN’T have me bitching about something (bishes better release the ranger already).

I accidentally my credit card the $200 pack >_<

I don’t get why people are saying that, it basically IS Neverwinter Nights 3, with much quicker and easier access to player made content.

It’s also 100% free and from the beta so far it’s not even remotely “pay to win”, it blows my mind that so many Neverwinter Nights fans are being snobs.

given that Perfect World saved STO, I have a lot of faith that Neverwinter will be ok. Cryptic under atari completely fucked up STO, but after they were sold Cryptic had a mass firing spree of people that caused most of the issues with STOs launch.. The games never been better, we’re now getting the first expansion coming out in May to STO.

So yeah Perfect World actually did a good job. I’m wondering if all the Zen will be transferable from game to game, I might put a few points into Neverwinter.

This game has my support simply because kinda-sorta AAA (maybe Double A? Whatever that means) and launching free to play, which I really think is the way everyone should be doing it. I’ll grab it on release drop $20 and see how it goes.

EDIT: OHMIGOD WE CAN EDIT NOW?!

I agree. And this happens with EVERY MMO that comes out based on an existing game. ‘Give us KOTOR 3 instead’ was the cry when The Old Republic was in development, ‘give us Elder Scrolls 6′ is the cry now when TESO is being made.

Good to read someone NOT bitching about MMOs anyway…I might give the open beta a crack now.

Except its nothing like NWN 1 or 2 and doesn’t follow the D&D rules… but apart from that…sure.

I loved the beta and can’t wait for it to come out. This’ll be my new MMO home. :)
