And he wants $2,000,000 of your money to do it. Camelot Unchained is the name of the game, and it’s described as a “counter-revolutionary RvR-focused MMORPG” where you can only level up by engaging in RvR activity.
Player housing and player crafting are also huge focuses of the game, with no NPC drops and a totally player-driven economy. Player housing will apparently range in size from small huts to massive mines, and can be built in both safe and contested areas.
“In the rush to cash in on the WoW phenomenon, publishers/designers tried to simply ‘out-WoW WoW’, leading to most MMORPGs becoming more risk-averse, more “casual player”-focused, and overall, less challenging,” reads the description. “This produced, among other things, a loss of the pride and sense of accomplishment that came from succeeding in the older, more difficult titles.”
Like most Kickstarters, they’re claiming traditional publishers won’t touch their project with a barge pole, so they’re asking you to step up — and 3,300 people already have with over $500,000 already pledged in just one day. Take a look and see what you think.
