In space, only the dinosaurs can hear you scream

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship 580x300

By on April 24, 2013 at 3:49 pm

Dinosaurs may have perished millions of years ago, but our reptilian friends have never really gone out of fashion. From Dino Crisis to Dino D-Day, these awe inspiring creatures have frequently taken (and perhaps eaten) centre stage in the world of video games. This proud tradition is set to continue with Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, a game that has clearly taken its titling cues from a certain Samuel L. Jackson film.

A collaboration between the previously unheralded Alcapa Games and Yugen Studio, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship is, in the words of its creators “a retro-styled futuristic top-down survival horror game.” Though the concept of space faring lizards may be somewhat offbeat, the brief glimpses of gameplay in the trailer suggest a surprisingly profound sense of isolation could be on offer.

A release date is yet to be announced.

Yeah, I thought of the Doctor Who episode too. Wonder if they’ll get into any sort of legal issues?

Am I the only one who sees the naming similarity with Snakes on a Plane?

I wouldnt be too suprised but Dinosaurs on a spaceship is a name and premise for a single episode not the franchise as whole.

Dinosaurs on a spaceship you know what, to the inner child in me, it screams AWESOME!!

Interestingly enough I was reading my daughter a book that was about Pirate Dinosaurs (as in Yarrr type Pirates not lets download a movie type Pirates :P ) That also screamed AWESOME!! to me as well.

I guess the moral to the story is that Dinosaurs + things = awesome. At least for me. :P

This game is for my phone right??

meh.. I think the 16-bit retro thing is getting old..

Why use “retro” 16 bit styled sprites if you’re going to put them through vector transformations and fancy modern lighting effects? Completely destroys the point, just ends up looking like a mess. Too many games do this.
