Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon revealed as radical 80′s VHS stand-alone title

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon looks like just about the best thing to happen to video games since, well, ever: every bit of leaked info so far is pointing to a completely balls-out, tongue-in-cheek explosion-festival of cheesy 80′s VHS-flavoured graphics and action movie sensibilities. It looks, in a word, radical.

A leaked description from the XBLA database reads: “Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80’s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who’s fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue.”

“Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon doesn’t require a copy of Far Cry® 3.”

The database also reveals a May 1 launch date for the game on XBLA, but a listing for it has also been found in the Steam database, so it should be making its way there eventually. Hit up the amazing official site for more.

It’s been rated in various regions for PSN as well!

Dat hyperbole.

It’s getting so any dickhead can produce a concept for a game these days.

gloveh: Dat hyperbole.

I enjoy games that don’t take themselves at all seriously :)

It’s deliberately 80s style and cheesy.

Love it!

Damn I was hoping they would go for 80′s Betamax!

Am I the only one thinking this is a late April fools joke?

…. Why is it Far Cry 3 if it has nothing to do with Far Cry 3?

Yeah, Far Cry 1, 2 and 3 had totally consistent plots, characters and game worlds, I demand more continuity!

I am liking the look of this game. A lot. I hope it is real.

damn this sounds aewsome!! Michael Biehn is the man!

Looking forward to this standalone game, very glad it wasn’t an April fools joke after all.
