Relic and SEGA have announced that Company of Heroes 2 will feature a ‘Theatre of War’ mode, which will allow users to recreate historical battles that occurred outside of the main timeline of the single-player campaign.

The mode will also allow completely custom gameplay, such as last stands against overwhelming odds, co-op scenarios, and unique enemy AI.

When Company of Heroes 2 launches, it will come with missions from key battles of 1941, with nine unique missions for both the games’ Russian and German factions. Relic will release more at a later date, but certain pre-order customers are also slated to receive their own seperate mini-pack of missions.

I uninstalled COH2 Beta not long after I got the free facebook code.
The series has no proper tactical and base building that made COH1 great

They have managed to ruin another game by dumbing it down for the casual gamer now turning it into p2p networking junk system and spamming units to win

The ‘base building’ that was present in COH1 was pretty much non existent anyway.

ive been playing the beta since its release, being a VCOH vet, the game play is essentially the same. the magic of coh1 is still there, it just takes time to adapt to the different strategies that the game uses. Once you learn the units and how they work effectively (which takes time) the game is an absolute blast easily as good as coh1.

charliebrown how many hours did you play before you rq? under 10?

My question still remains – and I really hope it is directly addressed in GON’s review when the time comes – does this game really have enough new gameplay and content to justify it as a full sequel? Given the amount of years since CoH was released (which I loved, btw), I really hope this isn’t just a regurgitation of the same game in a different theatre.
