Battlefield 3 will be on sale for $5 tomorrow only on Origin

Battlefield 3 for $5

By on April 18, 2013 at 4:53 pm

If for some reason you don’t already own Battlefield 3 — which is unlikely — then you’re in luck! For tomorrow only, EA are knocking the price down to a pretty ridiculous $5. Yes, five dollars.

The special will go live on Origin at noon tomorrow (12:00 PM AEST) and be valid until 11:59 PM tomorow. Since the game usually costs $50, that’s a pretty ridiculous saving. If you don’t get in during this twelve hour window, you’ll have to pay the full price.

If you do though, you can use the money you’ve saved to buy Premium access, even, and get yourself five themed digital expansions including of course the latest one, Endgame, which features CTF on motorbikes. Radical.

I don’t even want BF3, but I’m thinking about buying it so I’m not that guy at a LAN that doesn’t own it.

But when BF4 comes out I guess I will be that guy again.

Any word on whether standalone premium is gonna be on sale?

Still pretty jiffed I never got a discount after they released the game + premium in one box not long after it was introduced. Can’t justify spending another 50 on BF3

Nothing in EA’s press release about it, sorry.

Pfft. Why waste money on BF3 when you can get BC2? :P

BF3 plain is worth 5 bucks beyond that its not worth it
Origin does not meet up to stanards as 2012-2013 digital platform compared to Steam

The lack of LAN offline put me off buying Battlefield 3 for a long time.
I recently went back to Battlefield BC2 and I must say its A LOT MORE FUN

I miss the XM8 and M416 with the nade GL lancher added that BC2 gave us.

Graphics I found in BF3 were FUGLY in BF3 . Way to much Bluetint. The unoffical mod/hack to get the colors made it look proper , shame EA didnt admit so many people wanted proper true colors and gave us the option.

Rental servers were another killer and delayed me playing the game.

Why they refuse to release free standalone unranked dedicated server software does not make sense.

Finally the server browser. What a stupid idea using the web browser to exit out of the game that needs new plug ins weekly to find a server.

Im pretty sure at this rate Battlefield 4 and Company of Heroes 2 wont be getting my money this year.

Still need origin ? No thanks I’ll keep my $5… hell even if it were free i wouldn’t touch it

Yeah, if they paid me $5 and a game to install Origin, it still wouldn’t be worth it.

Will the key work on Steam? No… No sale.

NOOO EA what are you doing!? Stop cheapening IP.

Yea. Not a chance I’m paying $5 for it. This IP has now been cheapened to the point where I’m just no longer interested anymore.
Seriously EA, put it up to at least $89 if you expect me to buy it.

missing out on a decent game then you whingers lol

korbain,

But I already own BC2.

Wonder if this is intended to coincide with an announcement regarding the bf4 beta? Maybe a last punt at sales.

I’d almost consider buying it for this price.

Unfortunately, my account got hijacked 3 weeks ago, and their piss-poor support network has still to resecure my account.

Been passed around 3 different support groups now, because “We don’t have access to your full account, so we can’t fix it sorry”. This has been from both the online support, and Australian support so far.

The only ‘quick’ way ive been offered to have my account resecured is to phone up a US helpline, and they can help me over the phone. This is apparently expected of any international customers in the same situation. This just makes the autralian tax on the origin site even more insulting – we’re not even getting US levels of support for twice the price.

Steam would have fixed this issue within 6 hours at the outside. That origin have been screwing around for 3 weeks with no non-absurd solution in site is beyond the pale. Any remaining die-hard origin fanbois should take note. The entire origin service really is a complete joke.

charliebrownau,

Have you played the COH2 beta? Its great! Huge improvement over the old COH. I’m absolutely loving it. BF3 though, eh. I might finally pick up the premium service if its really, really cheap which I highly doubt.

I have played COH2 beta (code from facebook)
I really do not like the direction. They went.
NO LAN . GUI still too big
Tank traps removed.
Barb wire and sand bags nerfed , don’t like the new system.
Gun placements nerfed to base camp only
Crappy p2p system without ping/region filtering
Lack of dedicated servers (Starcraft 2 and World In Conflict uses dedicated servers)
They seem to be removing a LOT of the original tree system that you had to build up to a certain level and could build a lot of defenses . Now instead its the type of game were you build commanders and spam groups of units

Sweet Jesus, at just $5, your gonna have hackers buying up accounts by the truckload.

Enjoy the queue. I’ve been waiting 12 months for them to fix my Mass Effect 3. Every week I call and they tell me “no ETA”.

Those phone calls are like $2.58 a minute. And I intend to claim them back once this is resolved.

TLDR: FUCK Origin.

This :)

Does it have a SP campaign? And is it any good? I’m getting too old to bother with FPS multiplayer nowadays.

Except for Chivalry, that shit is fun.
