Screendump: Here’s what BioShock Infinite looks like on PC with everything turned up

BioShock Infinite

Our video review of BioShock Infinite doesn’t quite do the graphics justice, so I’ve rounded up a few of the best screenshots from the 180+ I took while playing and dumped them here for you, so you can see what the game looks like on PC with everything turned up as far as possible.

The below shots are taken on a GeForce GTX 670, which had absolutely no frame drops or lag whatsoever and pulled a smooth 60FPS through the whole game.

ALL THE PRETTIES!

Oowwwww Shiny…

I still don’t really get whether Elizabeth is supposed to be an unusually well endowed 9 year old or one of those prostitutes who cater to men who prefer “younger women”. Either way, she’s a disturbing mix of child and woman-with-low-cut-dress.

Some lovely visuals and I like the look of Elizabeth in pic 8, pic 6 looks a little too Disney animated movie for my liking.

All this has is lighting, the textures are horrible :S

spike4379,

Not sure what pictures you’re looking at. The textures look fine.

caitsith01,

She’s definitely supposed to be a woman, there is context in the game as to why she’s been made to look child-like.

I’m not sure why you’d assume a woman who looks young is a niche prostitute, you must live in an interesting part of the world.

I’ve given this game a few hours now and while it looks nice, the age of the U3 engine really shows through. The world is full of ugly blocky models and flat textures, its got nice art direction and decent lighting, but thats about it.

Looks great!

From these pictures I’m not sure about the textures, the rest looks goof though

Quite blatant shadow pop-in destroy the game’s graphical fidelity for me, it’s just so obvious and I’m only 15 minutes into the game.

Running a Sapphire 7970 OC and the FPS is inconsistent as all hell. Sometimes it’s 60, but sometimes when I look at something like a cart up close (never any of the bigger scenes) the fps will drop to about 20. Let alone the loading zones where my FPS drops to 5, and I can continually cross the boundary back and forth to experience this stutter continuously.

This game should be judged on its gameplay and story at least, but certainly not its graphics.

rapid101,

Shadows will probably be fixed in a patch.

Also, you’re using an ATi card. Driver issues are par of the course so try it with an nVidia rig or post links to nVidia rigs having the same issues before implying the game has issues.

rapid101,

I have that same issue as well, running a pair of crossfired 7950s, I know exactly what you mean, its funny that its an amd branded game, yet it appears to be more stable on nvidia cards.

Also, wrt the shadow popin, not sure if its as simple as a patch fixing it raven, its been an issue with the U3 engine since its inception.

Those are some really weird shadowing issues. Can definitely confirm it doesn’t do that for me at all… and yeah, given that it’s an AMD branded game, that’s super strange.

Are you sure you’re getting constant 60FPS with a GTX 670 on Ultra? I find it stutters down especially during skyline fights. I have the same graphics card with the latest 314.22 drivers (clean installed).

I am — I guess it might have dipped to 57-ish sometimes? But no stuttering at all (except when FRAPS crashed and took the game with it).

What else are you using? I’ve got an i7 3820 w/16 GB of RAM, too.

Tim Colwill,

Using an i5 3570 & 8GB RAM. In the market to upgrade RAM actually.

There’s a purported fix on whirlpool, but it doesn’t seem to fix the shadows for me (although claims to fix the stutter; doesn’t for me).

Could always give it a try, but I really want to play this game when it’s fully working soon.

I linked WP where not just AMD cards are getting the shadows and stuttering issues.

So thank you for being prudent.

Not even sure why the dynamic shadows distance is so short to be honest, but considering there’s tweaks for Bioshock: Infinite files it seems to be on Bioshock’s end rather than AMD’s.
