Frozen Synapse developers announced ‘Frozen Endzone’ for 2014

The uniquely delightful Frozen Synapse was my pick for strategy game of the year in 2011, due to a refreshing combination of simultaneous play, impressive tactical depth, and a beautiful soundtrack — so the news that Mode 7 games are back with a new, similar game called Frozen Endzone is music to my ears.

Themed around similar mechanics, Frozen Endzone instead appears to be some intriguing combination of American football and cyborg warfare — instead of wiping out your opponent, the idea is to design a play that will get the ball into your opponent’s endzone during your turn, while your opponent of course tries to predict and counter you. A trailer has been released, and it looks sublime.

If you’d like to see it on Steam, you can vote for it on Greenlight here.

Looks very interesting, even from a perspective of somebody who usually doesn’t play sports games.

Frozen Synapse was good fun. The soundtrack was awesome as well and the track they picked for the trailer for this one is just as good.
