Civilization V: Brave New World coming in July as Firaxis tease new XCOM-looking project

Civilization V: A Brave New World

By on March 25, 2013 at 12:07 pm

Coming out of PAX East over the weekend is the news that the recent-revealed Brave New World expansion for Civilization V (read all the details here) has been given a release date of July 12 (or July 9, if you’re in the US).

Meanwhile, Firaxis also took the opportunity at PAX to tease a new project with a very brief trailer, showing a shadowy figure who claims “The war continues at great cost. We now believe another force is at work against us. If not dealt with swiftly, it could destroy us,” before being cut off and replaced with the words ‘SIGNAL LOST’ in a very XCOM-like font.

So! XCOM expansion, or something more? Stay tuned.

Advertising always online DRM for the upcoming ipad port of Xcom: Enemy Unknown?

X-Com: Terror from the Deep remake, palette swap and all.

foxserge,

What on earth are you talking about? Are you talking about Simcity? Wait… you think Firaxis and Maxis are the same company?

What the heck are YOU talking about, how did you even get to simcity from what I said… I intended it as a joke regarding the likelyhood of new games having DRM and the inherent dropouts of 3G and 4G mobile internet, in reference to the “upcoming ipad port of Xcom: Enemy Unknown”

foxserge,

Righto…. just seems a bizarre choice of game, considering it’s currently an offline-friendly title with no DRM beyond Steam activation. And, you know, the month-long debacle surrounding Simcity, which actually does have always-online DRM which was preventing people from playing made me think you were confused. Carry on.
