ArmA 3 Community Guide video demonstrates basics, rags on other military games

We enjoy our ArmA here at games.on.net, and so, apparently, does Andrew Gluck, also known as Dslyecxi from the ShackTactical community. Bohemia have tasked Andrew to put together some Community Videos explaining the basics of their game and in doing so, Andrew took the chance to rag on other first-person military shooters (which shall remain nameless). If you’ve no idea what ArmA is about, or even if you’re a veteran who just wants to hear a reassuring list of reasons why you made the right choice, take a look below.

Well worth checking out his youtube backlog too, ShackTac videos are intense.
Only thing not mentioned, Leftctrl+rightmouse to change between collimated sites and the scope; this can be done while aiming as well.
Awesome game. I’m one of the people unable to play longer than 10 minutes at a time because of crashes. so very keen for a fix :)
also loving it when i manage to avoid the team killing COD kiddies that dayz brought to arma
I dont think ArmA will ever be a game that functions well in a public arena, those “COD Kiddies” dont have the patience for teamwork and will eventually be disruptive most times. Really needs to be in a locked down private server with clans/groups that are keen to play the way it deserves to be played.
haha yeah, hell no. They’d give up on this game after 5 mins. It’s def worth the effort/time when you start getting good at it! :D Cannot wait for this!!
I really want to take the chance to play this, but unfortunately haven’t the means to since my PC is pretty poor to say the least!

only 2 choppers 2 light armourd cars 1 civialian car and a hand full of weapons

Its an alpha man….I’ve played beta’s that are far worse (BF3).
hmm, i’m interested.
I tried playing a demo of Arma back in 2004 or something. Totally couldn’t get into it. the squad controls were really clunky from what I remember and I just found the game really kind of clumsy overall.
Then I look at this video and I’m impressed. especially by the open-ness of it.
Stealth mission at night during a storm. Take out a whole enemy compound. sounds awesome.

getting better but it will never be like CSS or bf3 / CoD twitch fps games
can you not play the alpha for free? have to buy it do you? ill just wait

You can play the Alpha lite version which does not support multiplayer or modding by getting a copy off someone who has purchased the actual game.
Alpha lite won’t be playable until 14/03 and will stop when the beta is released (approx Q2).

If you can run arma 2 well (let me emphasize, ‘well’) arma 3 will be a stroll in the park to run :)
or you can go to canyourunit to check if you can run arma 3!
