The Story So Far – CD Projekt RED talk Geralt’s perspective and Wild Hunt’s beginnings

The Witcher

We’re all setting our anticipation nozzles to 11 thinking about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but what’s it really going to be about? Well, HERE BE SPOILERS.

Marcin Blacha and Borys Pugacz Muraszkiewicz, writers on Wild Hunt have sat down with Game Informer to have a chat about what the game will entail, storywise. It will be a personal story, they said, less of a world-changing political saga. Geralt will be searching for ‘the love of his life’, who has been missing in previous games, along with his memory. The latter having been restored, it’s time to go looking for the former.

If you haven’t played The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, I probably wouldn’t watch the video over at Game Informer – there are some spoilers. If you have, though, and aren’t afraid of some very mild spoilers for the next installment, you should head over there and check it out.

Bah, Shani wasn’t missing from the first game.

There not talking about Shanii, there talking about Yeniffer.

Shanii was never a big part of Geralts life in the books or games.

You take that back.

Yennifer is Geralts lost love.

One hing about Shani though at the end of Witcher 1 I had settled for her and the kid and by the Witcher 2 not even a mention, they dropped the ball on that one in terms of continuity.

Very much looking forward to the Witcher 3 especially if it is less 360 UI and less QTE;s.

The Witcher as a series always had a ‘rough’ continuity. There were always the overarching stories and history and events that happened, but much of the stuff we knew about Geralt before the PC games were told in a series of ‘short stories’ with a couple of novels (some that haven’t even been translated yet).

I think it’s safe to say that CD Projekt took a small amount of liberty with some of the events in the story of the games (although have still done a fantastic job keeping within majority of all the lore and world).
