New Hitman movie announced – a reboot starring Paul Walker

Paul Walker

It has been revealed today that Fox International Productions are planning to make another Hitman movie, this time a reboot. The new film, which will be called Agent 47 will star Paul Walker of Fast and the Furious fame as the titular anti-hero.

When I heard Paul Walker was to play Agent 47, I immediately disagreed with their casting choice. Then I saw images like the one to the right — you know, collared shirt, holding a gun — and decided that perhaps he wouldn’t be so bad. He could probably stand to bulk up a little, but he will be shaving his head for the part.

The previous Hitman film was a commercial success, grossing $100 million worldwide, even if the critics tended to hate it. The reboot will be written by the writers behind A Good Day to Die Hard, Skip Woods and Michael Finch, and will be directed by Aleksander Bach, a director that is highly regarded but has only made commercials so far. This will be his feature film debut.

So what do you think, punters? You are the target audience after all! What did you think of the first Hitman movie? A hit or a miss? Would you rather see a sequel than a reboot? Or do you feel that a reboot is the right idea because man, did that suck? Either way, would you rather see someone else play 47, or are you open to the idea of young Mr Walker? Do let us know!

Vin Diesel would’ve made more sense, he comes pre-installed with Bald.

Wonder if they’ll have Agent 47 say bro..

I quite like the previous Hitman movie, and Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47. Why is it Hollywood can’t make sequels anymore and has to keep rebooting stuff? Show me some continuity dammit!

Exactly. Paul Walker comes across as a chirpy surfer dude. Timothy Olyphant had a great cold persona about him which suited the movie well.

Games are not made into movies because they possess any outstanding or notable merit as stories or even concepts, I believe it is a cynical cash grab due to the already established fan bases and brand recognition. For this reason I almost always think ‘meh’ whenever a game based movie is released.

Paul Walker is a horrible choice. I would love to see Michael Fassbender as Agent 47, he wouldn’t be the spitting image, but he’d be pretty close… plus he has some range, unlike Walker.
Unfortunately I think Fassbender is tied up with Assassin’s Creed.

Could not agree more. Paul Walker is a bad choice imo should have stuck with Timothy he was actually pretty good.

Would rather see a sequel than a reboot, that said the first movie was awesome but I didn’t think the story would have been that clear to people who haven’t played the games.

Paul Walker is a solid actor with a level of dedication to his art seen by few. Given a chance he could pull it off. People thought Heath Ledger was a poor choice for the Joker. That turned out well though.

That guy was actually the Hitman double in the movie (they said it in the making of for the youtube video)

ill watch it lol didn’t mind the other hitman movie, had some cool little references to the games…not many. But the one where the camera is following from the back into the bathroom, the kids playing hitman 2, etc. were pretty well done. I just wish they did more stuff like that, and made it a bit darker :D

What is it with Hollywood rebooting every 4 or 5 years these days?

that was epic

WE NEED MONEY BUT ARE OUT OF IDEAS!
DO IT AGAIN!!!
COMING SOON TWILIGHT THE REBOOT. (this was already rumored to have happened)

New movie needs to be more about going in for that silent kill and not like the Olyphant version where it was all guns blazing.

Not to mention that Skip Woods is down to write this movie. The news item mentions him as writing A Good Day to Die Hard…but he also wrote the Olyphant acted Hitman movie as well!!! So they’ve got the same script writer, the same storyline ie. they are rebooting it. The studios must have REALLY hated Olyphant’s performance, or maybe they think that beating the public over the head with the same story will eventually make them like it.

For what it’s worth, I personally enjoyed the Olyphant Hitman movie, and have little time for Paul Walker.

It’s normally either to make money, or to keep contracts for certain deals. Like Sony with Spider-Man and Fox with Fantastic Four.

First movie was lame, it wasn’t Hitman at all. *remembers the hand to hand fight with knives bit*

Pointless reboot is pointless given it appears nothing will change.

Why? Is that how the game is meant to go? No one told me. :(

guns blazing erryday. Blood Money was hard.

Urgh. Paul Walker’s stoner/surfer boy accent is going to sound awful.

Timothy Olyphant said he wasn’t interested in making a 2nd Hitman movie, as he said he took the role to pay for his house after Deadwood was cancelled on him. Lame really… I loved the Hitman movie.

Either Paul Walker has to make some serious changes to the way he acts for this movie, or it’s gonna be crapola. Olyphant was excellent for the role if you ask me. Vin Diesel doesn’t have the right darkness to the role, in comparison to Olyphant.
